Stig B-M Posted April 7, 2023 Share #1 Posted April 7, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have recently acquired an IIIf and I'm currently testing it. Now at the second roll of film, it stopped winding after frame 25 both times. Does anyone have an idea of what course it is? The web doesn't go that deep. Welcome, dear visitor! Aryel Posted April 7, 2023 Share #2 Posted April 7, 2023 I apologise if this sound like a silly question: are you sure that the roll that you put in isn’t 24 exposures only ?

Very relevant question but they were both 36 exposures. I just checked, it says 36 exp.

zeitz Posted April 7, 2023 Share #5 Posted April 7, 2023 After you get the rolls developed you can see if it is a spacing problem (film advancing too far for each frame) or a jamming problem.

Yeah, As zeitz notes, it is possible you have actually reached the end of the 36 frame film but the the counter/spacing is in need of service. How many degrees do your have to turn your wind knob in order to wind the film, tension the shutter and advance the film counter? (you can test this without film in the camera). On my IIIf it is exactly 360°.

I’m assuming that with no film in the camera you can wind on and trigger the shutter as many times as you like. And second that there is no damage visible to the perforations on the edge of the film. I am looking forward to the developed films. It's odd if two different brands allegedly at 36 exp. both should have only 25 exp.
StephenH Posted November 3, 2023 Share #10 Posted November 3, 2023 It is possible that since you are not an expert at threading the film into the spool you are inadvertently creating a "lump" or bulge that causes the less-than-36 exposures in the take-up spool to bind. I had a similar experience with a Contax II.
