It only goes to 500mm, but there's a dedicated doubler if you need more reach.

It's a F2.8 statement. Exponentially harder to make than an F4 lens, and correspondingly much more expensive.

With a 1.4TC, it would be an f/4 lens with 280-700.

I’ll take one, if it’s at 5.6. An f4 zoom at that range would be huge and heavy. Much heavier than a 600mm prime. I’m done with 5-6kg lenses, which a zoom would need to be with all the extra glass and mechanisms.

Zooms are about flexibility and portability, for me. I have no personal use for one that needs a sherpa.

I’m sure that Leica would be happy to build a few of these lenses for you guys. Not so  sure whether the price is current, though.
