tuna Posted March 9, 2023 Share #1 Posted March 9, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Recently shooting in New York City, I captured a few waist level candids of this gentleman and his dog with my Q2M. As we can see, he was looking directly at the camera and as he passed me he suddenly stopped and challenged me with, "Did you take my picture?". Before I could answer he continued with, "Why don't you just ask?". I told him that just wasn't how I did things but asked him if he would allow me to take a photo. He happily complied. He calls himself Cbreezy and we friended each other on Instagram. I've sent him copies of the photos we see here. The first is the initial candid I captured and the second is the posed street portrait. I think I still prefer the initial candid I captured...which do you prefer? Welcome, dear visitor! Louis Posted March 9, 2023 Share #4 Posted March 9, 2023 (edited) Great shots, as always. It has happened to me several times to get the same reaction and question. I always responded because I wanted them to remain as natural as possible in their own world, without posing for a photo! lol Edited March 9, 2023 by Louis
stuny Posted March 10, 2023 Share #5 Posted March 10, 2023 Terrific! I sue the same comment Louis did.
grahamc Posted March 11, 2023 Share #6 Posted March 11, 2023 Candid for me. The portrait is really nice though, I just wish people wouldn’t smile - i never stop them because it’s always such a nice connection but as soon as I get the images home I realise I prefer a non-smiling expression for a street portrait
evikne Posted March 11, 2023 Share #7 Posted March 11, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I hate it when someone spots me and smiles and shows the V sign. That usually makes me consider the image lost. 😄 1
gotium Posted March 11, 2023 Share #8 Posted March 11, 2023 I like the posed because he looks happy with having his photo taken

But I take the shot first to not upset them, then I suggest to take another shot without the V sign,, asking them to look at a direction I show! Sometimes, it does work well! 😅
newtoleica Posted March 18, 2023 Share #10 Posted March 18, 2023 (edited) I like both, different shots but both nice Edited March 18, 2023 by newtoleica
rtai Posted March 22, 2023 Share #11 Posted March 22, 2023 I prefer second one. Not about whether it was candid or posed. It’s just more interesting and better composed.
