As your state in present tense that you are stranded on an island, that implies your lens choice has already been made and fixed.

Is this then a probability or an uncertainty question - maybe you have not yet looked in your bag ; perhaps you forgot the camera as well, making the lens question irrelevant.

The other flaw is that 35nn is dimensionally incorrect, so logically cannot exist ; let’s hope there is a 50mm lens and camera in your bag 🙂

I'm starting to think that the island must be large enough to have a Leica store or at least a Leica retailer, as @Herr Barnack suggests. I guess there is a fair number of these in the world (Britain, Ireland, Honshu, Hong Kong, Iceland, Sjealland, Long Island, Australia(?)...). I don't know why OP is stranded on one of these with money enough to buy one lens only, but I would still recommend the 35mm, or possibly the 50mm.

I am stranded on an island.........with only one lens. Should it be a 35nn or a 50mm? We have been thru this before, so please humor me.😃

If one is going to be stranded on an island, I would think which supermodel to be stranded with would be an infinitely more critical concern.

If I am ever stranded on an island, I hope it will be Long Island.  Then I can go over to B&H and get whichever lens and bag I need.

Except for the 35 Summicron APO, of course.  🤕

Ah, Herr, B&H is on another island called Manhattan and if you are stranded, it would be unreachable! The frustrations of being stranded are endless.

I have never been to either Long Island or Manhattan - but from the looks of Google's map, Manhattan would be readily accessible from Long Island via the Shoeleather Transit Authority...
