julianf73 Posted February 17, 2023 Share #1 Posted February 17, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Since the 35mm Summilux ASPH FLE (11675) is larger than the Summicron (11674), does it make sense that it's also lighter? Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4 ASPH: Dimensions 2.2" x 1.8" / 56 x 46 mm Weight 11.3 oz / 320 g Summicron-M 35mm f/2 ASPH: Dimensions 2.1" x 1.4" / 53 x 35.7 mm Weight 12 oz / 340 g

lct Posted February 17, 2023 Share #5 Posted February 17, 2023 The Summicron is lighter AFAIK. You may wish to check its technical data as i don't have them on hand sorry.
wdahab Posted February 17, 2023 Share #6 Posted February 17, 2023 It's not. The 35 summicron silver used to be brass, but is now aluminum. Plenty of places, like B&H, still list the old brass weight incorrectly. The aluminum version is more like 280g, same as the black. The lux weight you're looking at is already aluminum.

Pixeleater Posted February 21, 2023 Share #10 Posted February 21, 2023 I compiled the following while preparing to purchase M 35mm. I ended up with the Summarit and APO lenses. Weights for black anodized taken from Leica Technical Specifications. The FLE's are noted as approximate. LENS L D W Filter Size Part # Leica 35 2.5 34 mm 51 mm 220 g 39 mm 11680 Leica 35 2.0 35.7 mm 53 mm 252 g 39 mm 11673 Leica 35 APO 40.9 mm 43 mm 320 g 39 mm 11699 Leica 35 1.4 FLE 46 mm 56 mm 320 g 46 mm 11663 Leica 35 1.4 FLE II 46 mm 58 mm 338 g 46 mm 11726
Al Brown Posted February 21, 2023 Share #11 Posted February 21, 2023 In its heyday the silver summicron 35 ASPH version 1 (all time version V) with product number 11882 was 340g because it was made of brass. Because of that it was heavier than the 35 lux FLE and it made perfect sense. The current one 11674 is not brass and is thus lighter than FLE. B&H still erratically lists the old V1 weight under the V2 model. Welcome, dear visitor!
