Ohhhh, now you’re yelling.  A little childish, eh.

You say you’re entitled to your opinion, yet one someone expresses a different opinion you resort to yelling.

Grow up!!

Who is yelling? I pasted text from an article in a larger font; so now I’m yelling. No one needs to grow up here as it appears you have a lack of intellectual intelligence which precludes you from carrying on a conversation.

In all honesty, you proved my point. Thanks.

Although I’m not a fan of Northrup, the facts can’t be denied that this girl was exploited. She was never compensated for the pic, and McCurry made out like a bandit.

From a photojournalistic point of view, Carter’s work was raw.  The starving child photo is exactly what photojournalist do.  If I’m not mistaken, McCurry has been accused of photoshopping his work and was rebuked by others for doing so.

Yes, Carter did receive a Pulitzer, while McCurry did not.  I haven’t had the chance to see the documentary, but I want to see the movie about the Bang Bang Club.

I do not understand how anyone can make such an extreme opinion about Steve McCurry based on a hit job by Tony Northrup.

Carter was much more criticized for his ethics than McCurry. I doubt any relevant writing condemns Steve McCurry for his Afghan girl shot.

I’ll leave the conversation now…you’ll notice no one agrees with you.

Enough said.

New York Times on Afghan Girl:

By Jenny Gross

Published Nov. 26, 2021Updated Nov. 27, 2021
An article in the New York Times on the "Afghan Girl".  It might help shed some clear light on the subject. There is no question that the girl was found by the Nat.Geo. and given care. She was not exploited any more than the Migrant Mother or the General who had his brains blown out as Eddie Adams snapped the picture. My recollection (which is hazy) is the Tony Northrup did a follow-up on his first rant against McCurry. I might be wrong on this. In any case I think what is unfortunate is the attack on McCurry without substantial research and backup. I hope this forum is not going to become another place for ugly rants and accusations.
