Advertisement Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Hi Guest agnoo, Take a look here William . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stunsworth Posted August 19, 2006 Share #2 Posted August 19, 2006 Hi Ron, I realise that I'm probably in a minority of one, but I'm really not liking the lack of shadow detail in a lot of these Scala shots. In this one it looks as if someone has sliced off the back of William's head. There;s no detail at all on my screen. Sorry, because the skin tones look good. Guest agnoo Posted August 19, 2006 Share #3 Posted August 19, 2006 The menue of that pub "Roasted tender half shoulder of Lamb: 14,95 £"
Guest agnoo Posted August 19, 2006 Share #4 Posted August 19, 2006 Steve you are right, that was my fault. The pub was really dark and i cutted the dull rest of "grey" away. Here another one uncorrected and with better light (i dislike the color-cast in the black, so that´s why i screwed the tune-button so hard):
Guest agnoo Posted August 20, 2006 Share #5 Posted August 20, 2006 Ah, the 2nd is William at Madame Tussaud ;-))) The 1st is the original ;-)))
Guest agnoo Posted August 20, 2006 Share #6 Posted August 20, 2006 I checked the slide and rescanned it - there was (nearly) no information in the background - the light was very hard, only from the small window.
lambroving Posted August 20, 2006 Share #7 Posted August 20, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hmmm... I like the first one just fine, even if it lacks detail. It has a nice balance. I guess only we could know how dark it was in there. The second attempt looks the way the slide might project. Am I right? You ARE right about #2. Didn't know you were a comedian, even after one week in the same car!
stunsworth Posted August 20, 2006 Share #8 Posted August 20, 2006 You're right of course William, I wasn't there so don't know how dark or light it was so have to judge the image on its own terms, and as I say I find the lack of detail a little disconcerting given the brightness of the T shirt. andybarton Posted August 20, 2006 Share #9 Posted August 20, 2006 Having met him a couple of years ago, both of these studies capture William's character very well, I would say. Nice work. (I confess it took me a while to see the joke on the menu though - well spotted! )
stuny Posted August 20, 2006 Share #10 Posted August 20, 2006 Ron - In spite of the craneotomy (which doesn't bother me), I really like #1 for its balance and sensitivity.
ddh Posted August 21, 2006 Share #11 Posted August 21, 2006 I also like the first one. Often, the lack of detail in the shadows can ruin a photo. In this case, your attention is so well focused on the man's eyes and the expression on his face that, had I not read Steve's comment, I would not have noticed it. Well done Ronald. mgcd Posted August 21, 2006 Share #12 Posted August 21, 2006 Thanks for the morning chuckle (Madame Tussaud and the roasted Lamb). I also like the first one just fine (In fairness Steve did say he would be in the minority... ). Nicely done. Cheers,
abrewer Posted August 21, 2006 Share #13 Posted August 21, 2006 Wonderful images all, Ron. The first one had me saying "Ahhhhh..." because it captures what I personally hear and see in William's comments and pictures. Very nice caricature of "The Man". Thanks for sharing. fotografr Posted August 22, 2006 Share #14 Posted August 22, 2006 Now it is official--William is the most photographed photographer on this forum. I guess he just has one of those angelic faces that everybody wants to get a picture of. ;-))
uulrich Posted August 22, 2006 Share #15 Posted August 22, 2006 Great photographs. #1 is cool. Perhaps the light (halo) in #1's bottom right corner cound deserve a bit burning. All three are fine; the menu card is funny.
earleygallery Posted August 22, 2006 Share #16 Posted August 22, 2006 Another vote for No1 here. Very natural portrait that portrays the subjects personality IMO.
kodaktrix Posted August 23, 2006 Share #17 Posted August 23, 2006 I like No 1 very much. To my mind the dark background underlines his sensitivity. Best regards Oliver
