if we discuss Leica look, we'd have 1000 pages. I buy Leica lenses because I like them. If others want to buy Sony or Sigma based on other criteria, that's fine. I laugh when someone owning an Apo lens applauds Sony because it is smaller and cheaper, and "better". 🤣

2. Lol, the lens is the most important part of equipment. Every photographer knows it.

Camera sensors are as important nowadays. Take a M lens and take the same shot with a SL2, SL2-S, M10 and M11 and you'll get 4 slightly different results.

3. L-system is fairly new.

Not really. The L system (Panasonic + Sigma + Leica) was born in 2018, though the L mount has been available since 2014. The Summilux SL was launched in 2017. We've been 6 years without a second 'lux added to the lineup, though no one knows why, which is still the original question here.

The first Nikon Z is dated 2019. Canon RF is also from 2018.

4. You haven't understood. Pick TWO of three. Not the one. Think of the M-lux vs SL-lux

Since I haven't understood, please explain to me which two Leica has picked up between size, performance and price.

I still don't understand what Apo lenses have to do with the Summilux (which is not an Apo lens) and a Sony f/1.2, which has also another scope as the core strenght.

1. Since modern lenses aka Karbe are more "boring" then you could play with sensors/profiles to bring the Leica look in color. But in the previous comment, I was thinking of worse lenses like zooms versus primes in various brands using the same sensor. Owning a better lens matters a lot more on whether 6mpx or 24mpx.

2. M created since when? 70 years or something.

3. M-50mm Apo costs 9500 eur in Sweden meanwhile 5500 eur for SL Apo equivalent. SL glasses are cheaper if you take out of AF parts.

Same price of what? The Summilux SL is 5890

you complain that it is heavy and overpriced vs Sony if we go back to our first posts. I mentioned M lenses so you can see how big a difference Lux makes vs Cron.

Dont try even think of Summilux APO

Summilux APO

No such thing. You have the f/2.0 Summicron APO and the f/1.4 Summilux (which is not an APO).

Yes it is, it's heavy and overpriced vs the Sony, which is an outstanding lens. But the Sony is also newer and avails of new technology to shrink the overall form factor. Hopefully we'll see the same tech applied by other manufacturer, including Leica.

The Summilux M is 4190, the Summilux SL is 5890.

One of the reasons why the SL APO Summicron are cheaper than the M counterpart is because Leica went for the same form factor for all SL Summicrons, reducing cost.

you lack a sense of humor. It would be a 2kg and 20 000 euro.

it would be fair to compare Cron non-Apo vs Lux non-Apo.. Cron weighs 350gr and Lux 1000gr.

Apo weighs 750gr and has fancy glass elements.

We need to focus on talking about 100% optics/glass material selection. I don't know much about that. Zeiss in is the same place.

Leica has been producing stuff for the industry. They are willing to go for extremely expensive glass compared to Sony/Fuji. It has nothing to do with the tech prowess. Japanese might be smarter and reduce the price for mass production. It is about company philosophy. Zeiss refused Asph for their ZM lenses

My reason for SL lenses is that they are bigger and therefore cheaper despite AF in comparison to M.
