Do you think the so called problems of M11 will be solved with M11P ?

True, but they have this incredible buffering time (or whatever) every 36 to 38 exposures. Very disconcerting, and has certainly cost me lots of good shots over the decades.

Yep. In fact my most famous (and financially lucrative) shots came about because I purposefully slowed my 'buffer' down on purpose. I didn't want to be caught out reloading film when I knew something crazy was going to happen (I'm referring to a motor drive sequence of Kurt Cobain jumping on a drum kit). I knew I only had a dozen shots left on the roll, so held my breath, and waited, despite images going on I could have very well taken preceding something that was only a guess in my mind. A very different way of working than we have now.

As far as startup time, My Nikon's always seemed instant to me, but then perhaps I'm not sensitive enough to tell the difference between .2 seconds and 2 seconds, lol.

I've always felt my M9 is the fastest digital M of the ones I own/owned to start up...

The 240/10/10r (not got an M11, never had an M8) are all give or take within .2 of each other... (M10 faster than 240, 10R slower than M10 - 240 funny about SD card size, M10x seemingly not fussed)

The thing is.. if you test them on about 7 or 8 runs you always get one surprisingly slow one and one slightly faster one.. (I do this by recording the sound, so nothing to do with hitting stop on a stopwatch and reaction time)

Another thing (this I may very well be imagining...) is that the Ms seem to like starting up more than they do waking up

I love my M9 and it's keeper, but I mainly use whatever newer M I have (for all the reasons that made me chose a newer M in the first place) and I'm a little mystified how the M9 is still the fastest starter and lightest (brass) M even after all of these years...

I mean it's not really a problem, leave the camera on and disable auto power off and some grammes (couple of ounces maybe?) of weight aren't show stoppers, but it's surprising that there's certain desirable features that Leica never managed to replicate after the M9.

My M8.2 startup times are more or less constantly 1sec vs 2sec average for both M240 and M11. What i find surprising is that the M240 results can vary from 1s to 5s depending on SD cards and the way they are formatted (didn't check on M11) while the M8.2's don't seem to vary at all. I don't know it there is a technical explanation for that.
