M6 TTL light meter issue on 1/250th speed

Just wondering if anyone have a similar issue or heard of this issue before.

 

My Leica m6 ttl correctly exposes frames on all shutter speeds except for 1/250th. When metering at 1/250th speed, it always shows over exposed by two stops. Batteries are new and gold contacts are good without any corrosion or dirt.

Never seen this with the 2 M6ttl bodies I've owned. My current M6ttl body, like new, is in service, meter doesn't time out.

So at 1/250 the meter thinks it is at 1/60?

That is correct. Is this part of a light meter failing?

Maybe I have a bad contact point at shutter speed 1/250th. The rest of the shutter speeds are consistent and normal. Only 1/250th is off.

Just tested against one of three M6TTL bodies I own. For the same scene by the meter 1/60 f8, 1/125 f5.6, 1/250 f4, 1/500 f2.8

Is that the sort of thing you're NOT getting?

I tested my M6ttl and the metered the same scene indoor with controlled lighting and the meter shows correct exposure at…

 

1/1000 f2

1/500 f2.8

1/250 f8**

1/125 f5.6

1/60 f8

1/30 f11

1/15 f16

 

so at 1/250 shutter speed, my meter thinks it’s 1/60th. I’ve done some test rolls and shot it at 1/250 and two stops adjusted over (when following the faulty meter) and the exposure on the negative was correct. If I listened to the meter at 1/250, my picture would be severely under exposed by two stops.

OK that's pretty weird. Is it possible to get it to a good Leica technician to check that out? It's too good a camera to have that happening, and I'm sure it's an easy fix along the lines you suggested above.

I’ll probably send it in to NJ soon. Got an issue with my M-E and I guess I’ll have them look at both cameras.

Nope, I sold the camera with full disclosure to a new owner.
