noxy Posted January 10, 2023 Share #1 Posted January 10, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I finally made the jump and got myself an M-240P a few weeks ago to test the M world. Got the unit from a Leica store to have some kind of guarantee it would hold. I now have a cloud of hot pixels on it - which C1 can easily get rid of. If it was one or two I wouldn't worry too much but this is a lot of it. Does anyone know what causes these hot pixels, if there is a way to get rid of them, do they come and go? Any help would be highly appreciated Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Advertisement Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Hi noxy, Take a look here M-240 cloud of hot pixels . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted January 10, 2023 Share #2 Posted January 10, 2023 Normally Leica can map the hot pixels out, but if there are too many they will swap out the sensor. Let te camera store handle this. A sensor swap is very expensive. The cause is cosmic radiation.
noxy Posted January 10, 2023 Author Share #3 Posted January 10, 2023 Thanks, the picture i linked is indeed hot pixels right?
Luke_Miller Posted January 10, 2023 Share #4 Posted January 10, 2023 I am not able to see hot pixels in your small jpeg file. Possibly your processing program filtered them out.
noxy Posted January 10, 2023 Author Share #5 Posted January 10, 2023 (edited) There are white and red dots on this image though - where there should be none? Am I mistaking noise for hot pixels? Here is another example, DNG and JPG: https://we.tl/t-YFR1pTOdrZ Thanks for the help @Luke_Miller @jaapv Edited January 10, 2023 by noxy
pippy Posted January 10, 2023 Share #6 Posted January 10, 2023 Could you post a 100% crop of the area in question from the first post? P.
Luke_Miller Posted January 10, 2023 Share #7 Posted January 10, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Brought the DNG into Lightroom. If I boost exposure to bring the skin tones up, I start to see some luminance and color noise in the background. Looks typical to what I get with my M240. Don't see any hot pixels.
