King's Cross St Pancras International. Above the concourse there is a statue on a plinth which has a bas-relief surround.

I took this picture with my monochrome M9M and was astonished to find that the image was of a the completely 3D sculpture and no sense of bas-relief at all.

I wanted to believe that this was the quality of my own photography – or maybe another excellent characteristic of the Leica M9M – but in fact I think it is probably the skill of the sculptor who may be envisaged that this would be the effect if ever it was photographed.

I have no idea if the same magic occurs if you take a colour photograph.

I had to run to keep up with this girl, all the while trying to get my rangefinder in focus - not an easy job! I think the lady on the left is a little alarmed, wondering what I was up to 🙂 but she helps improve the composition.
