One of the many Railway Workshop buildings located in Midland WA - The workshops were closed down in 1994 displacing many workers and their families in the area. It put an end to training programs for skilled workforce and the ability to build and repair trains and carriages. Their closure in 1994 brought to an end not only a specific industrial complex but also a complex social community. They have refurbished sections of the historic buildings into medical facilities, including a University campus and several housing complexes that cater for a cross section of the community. The almost gentrification of the area has gone some ways to alter the antisocial aspect of this community. Many people still claim that the workshops were closed prematurely however the new manufacturing facility not far from the old workshops are producing new suburban rail cars or at least 50% local labour and the rest contracted to overseas companies.

At first I thought it was an image of a headless man walking away from you.  But zooming in you see he is just admiring his shoe.

Well timed shots always make for interesting images. Congrats!

Thank you very much Hugo.
I was walking in the city with my M9M and one my photographer friend  with I often go for a photo walk and coffee...
I always set the exposure of the camera before because it is the same light everywhere. In the moment I noticed this man I jumped at the side ,
put the camera on eye and make a photo. Focus was already set on infinity and I just puled the focus tab. In the moment the rangefinder patch
was on the right place I press the shutter button. The man is little bit out of focus because I walked behind him and that made the unsharpness.
I think that I had set aperture on f4, not sure. Anyway the photo is interesting enough and sharpness is a bourgeois concept... ;)

My friend also made similar photo but he got the head of the man when it was completely down so it look like the man without head walk on the street.
He was next to me and made series of photos, 10-15 of them in continues mode and later chose the photo. I made only one and that is enough... :D

I like the fact that I made a photo and not some algorithm in the camera that do almost everything instead of me doing so. Later at home the photo
that was successful fells much better because you made this with your own skill and knowledge. Especially when you can't see immediately the made photo
because the LCD screen is so bad. I had put screen brightens on lowest setting and use him only for menu and histogram when I need it.

I still need a lot of practice with my M9M but I like that journey because I love photography. :D

Zdravo Nikola,

You just described the beauty and the fun of this type of photography with the M system - prefocus, set exposure then wait for a decisive moment.  The M9M is a beautiful bit of kit. I enjoyed mine immensely but now, just recently moved over to the M10M.  We "both" need a lot of practice but that is also part of the fun.  Enjoy your journey.

cheers,

Hugo
