Just in case any of us needs a reminder that the M Monochrom mk1 is a tremendous camera, here is a short video of Sarah and Jeff Ascough out on the streets of Blackpool with their M9M cameras. They're shooting those camera as they were intended to be used, and making it look easy, when we all know that it's anything but.

Their work is absolutely brilliant. At the end of the video there's a shot of Sarah waving her camera past the video recorder and it looks like she has a 28mm Summicron on it. So, they likely have the lens pre-focused for a range of about 3 to 10 meters. Very good technique. The results make it clear that the MM1 has plenty of dynamic range and does well with higher ISO. I still love the MM1 and am happy I was able to find one recently to replace the one I foolishly sold three years ago.

Thanks for posting the video!

This is a pretty simple image but it reminded me why I like the M9M so much. I opened the image in Photoshop and just did a bit of dodging in the shadows. Otherwise, the tones looked really good to me straight OOC. The lens was the Voightlander 35mm Ultron II asph, one of the new vintage line with black paint over brass.

I found a fabulous French restaurant when visiting Milwaukee yesterday. It's called Le Reve Cafe and Patisserie. Anytime I'm in Milwaukee, I'll be going back there.

Who said that Leicas are not for action. For Puddle-Jumpers they are the camera of choice!

People who use the M10M often mention how shadow detail can be recovered. I don't disagree with that at all, but the M9M is no slouch in that regard. When I shot this I didn't compensate for the bright outside exposure and in the original file the man's face was almost completely black.

Nice lighting and a  composition with a certain tension, I would prefer a different background though.
