Sometimesmaybe,  First, welcome to the forum.  Second, the portrait in your post #3729 is simply superb.  You captured the subject's essence with most excellent use of light, tonal range, composition, shadow, and a stunning gaze that made me, the viewer to;  Stop, Look, Think and even Feel something about this person and moment in time.  The portrait has all the hallmarks of a masterpiece photograph.  This portrait, is one of the best that I have seen on the forum in some time.  Perhaps we will see more of your work of photographic art in the future.  Bravo!  r/ Mark

Very nice. What lens did you use?

7artisans 75mm 😬 with a tiffen deep yellow filter shot at f2.8. alas the budget is tight at the moment (just spent all my cash on getting started in the M ecosystem). i can't say it's a 'good' lens (sooo much spherical aberration), but on the plus side I don't need a promist / cinebloom filter anymore 😅

👍for your nice portrait picture.

a "good" (how ?) lens is not required if a soso lens is in good use + in good hands + knowhow + nice sitter + ??

couldn't agree more 🤓  but having good tools does make some jobs easier.

the 7artisans lens is 'good' in the sense that the softness works well on female portraits, but even then i prob wouldn't use it wide open unless you need the speed or you want a super dreamy look.

Philip.

* The 'coding' on the Monochrom was still set, manually, for a 50mm f1.0 Noctilux. Interestingly the inevitable vignetting which always occurs with the optical design of the 21 S-A when used on a (pre-M10) Digi-M has been corrected to a remarkably acceptable degree; there has been no post-prod alteration done in this regard on this snap whatsoever.
