And if user profiles were the culprit?

If you have old user profiles, i mean older than firmware update 1.6.0.0, you may wish to update them folks. Just did it for my 6 user profiles. Not only they all work fine now but i took the risk to use an UHS-II card again and it seems to work normally now. I say it seems because my experience is 10 minutes old only but i thought you could be interested.

Select your profile.  Make the changes on your camera. Then save the profile.  Ex. select profile 2, make changes, save profile 2, confirm.  I have only used UHS-ii cards for years.  When I started shooting the M11, same.  However I didn't have the camera until 1.5.0.1.  However, I've not had any issues.  Thanks for the update.

Interesting. I have no user profiles and have been using the M11 with UHS II cards since it’s release in January with no issues.

Causal link perhaps? Besides a Sony Tough card that was apparently faulty, i got freezes with a Sandisk UHS-II card having old user profiles on it. Now with updated user profiles, the same Sandisk UHS-II card seems to work flawlessly. Touch wood...

It’s possible. I remember back in my Early M240 days I deleted a file in camera and immediately after got a lock up. Since then I don’t delete images in camera anymore and always lock the card before downloading images. So far so good. Knock on wood

I know some people associate a camera malfunction to something they did just prior to the malfunction but these cameras are designed to do these processes.  I'm pretty sure that 98%+ do (like me) everything the camera is designed to do without incident.  Many of these anecdotal, one-off, situations are coincidence - not endemic.  I charge from the USB port, I delete in camera, I don't stress about SD cards (however I don't use Tough Cards for known issues), I don't baby the camera - just like most users.  Use your cameras as designed and IF you have an issue, report it immediately to Leica for evaluation/remedy.  Of course it's frustrating if you purchase a camera, let alone one that costs this much, and there's an issue.  However, there has been no known causal-link OR extensive problem to deleting files, charging via USB, that I've seen anywhere let alone from Leica, stating any ongoing issues.  From what I've seen, most serious issues, have been resolved by Leica with the camera owner.

Again, if you have an issue with your camera, not one you read about 8 or 4 or..., months ago, contact Leica immediately and have it resolved.  Similarly, those who think Leica has an issue with JPEG out of camera files - obviously don't know their cameras.  Everytime I read about a DNG file that is unimpressive or a JPEG that is lackluster, it doesn't jive with my, relatively lengthy, experience with Leica, the M11 or other recent bodies.  Is it a Sony, Canon, Fuji? No. Are they Leica? Certainly not. If you prefer another camera - get it. Otherwise, please, learn your cameras capability, and limitation, and stop whining ang take pictures.  I show my Leica images at exhibitions, to educators, long-time photography experts, and they are all amazed at the clarity, depth, color, capability of current Leica lenses and bodies.  Nomex suit on and no responses or ongoing squabbles will follow.

@DenverSteve, Thanks for your post. Many good points.

I think at the end of the day it just comes down to whatever workflow is most natural for the photographer. I've been shooting Leica M's since the early nineties and have used each iteration of digital M with the exception of the M8 series. Like you I pick up habits along the way that seem to work for me and I stick to them. My M240 hiccup may have been a total fluke, who knows? I don't delete files in camera simply because I like to have a record of all that I've shot. my M240 incident just reminded me to stick to my practice. Ive had the M11 since introduction and knock on wood, it's been a great companion. Is it because of my workflow? who knows? Who cares? When I see someone having issues I try to be helpful by suggesting things that have worked for me - I kinda think that's the spirit of the forum.

Kwesi, Indeed. Actually, this was meant for the other combined gripe thread that's been ongoing for, to me, all too long.  If I could edit this to place elsewhere, where it was meant, I would.  Thanks. I will place it there.  If a mod can edit this for me, please do.

With M11, I started deleting images instead of formatting (more convenient). No lockups, UHS II use is fine.
