Jox Posted December 27, 2022 Share #1 Â Posted December 27, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I would like to mount a neutral or UV filter on this lens. I tried a B&W 34mm Marking on the box: 34 x 0.5 010M Marking on the filter: B+W 34 010 UV-Haze 1x MRC The diameter seems good but the thread does not match (3/4 turn and it has to be left there). I don't know exactly what the dimension and the suitable thread would be, or where to find it... In any case, I am pleasantly surprised and confirm that this lens which gives very nice renderings on SL2S and M11 (with its logical defects: vignetting, "approximate" corners at 5.6). Thank you in advance for your information (this is my first screwing, yes yes !!!).
Advertisement Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 Hi Jox, Take a look here Filter for Summaron 28F5,6 - 1956. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
UliWer Posted December 27, 2022 Share #2  Posted December 27, 2022 A 34mm*0.5 filter should be right for the "old" 28mm Summaron. Both a Heliopan and a Rodenstock 34*0.5 fit well on my lens. Perhaps your lenses filter thread has  some irregularities. If screw-in filters don't work, you might try a A36mm push on filter. There are plenty on the second hand market from Leitz.
lct Posted December 27, 2022 Share #3  Posted December 27, 2022 According to my Leitz catalog for 1958, there were only push-on filters for the Summaron 28/5.6 then. The U.V. one (FIOLA) can be found in silver (pic) and in black on e**y. I have no experience with them though. Welcome, dear visitor! UliWer Posted December 27, 2022 Share #4 Â Posted December 27, 2022 34mm is a really odd size for filters and I think Leitz never made them, though they fit on the 5cm Summar as well as on the 2.8cm Summaron.

Type H. Indeed, my 34mm filters from Heliopan and Rodenstock fit the 2.8cm Hektor as well as the Summaron, the Summar, the 9cm Elmar and the 13.5 cm Hektor. So it seems to  be the unusual filter size for lenses with the usual A36 filters.
Jox Posted December 29, 2022 Author Share #7  Posted December 29, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) FYI: in the absence of a filter, this little cap available on Amazon mounts very well on it "Bouchon d'objectif diamètre 34 mm Lens Cap, compatible avec Nikon Canon Leica, Sony Sigma Tamron Olympus Fujifilm Panasonic Pentax Samsung Capuchon d'objectif appareil photo 34 mm"
