noirblancgris Posted December 16, 2022 Share #1 Posted December 16, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi I tried to use 2 different Visoflex 2 on my Leica M11 and both did not work correctly. They are not turned on, both. They damaged the hot shoe of the M11 and required enormous pressure each time to be able to put them in place. It is true that once put in place with force, they lit up. I've seen videos where it seems quite easy to place them on the M11. Has anyone had this kind of problem? Since then, I give up using this accessory. Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Hi noirblancgris, Take a look here Visoflex 2 and hot shoe Leica M11. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Photoworks Posted December 16, 2022 Share #2 Posted December 16, 2022 I had some issues that it didn't work, and I have tested other in the store and that worked and the version I owned on a new M11 was giving problems. I looks like the contact need cleaning often and then it works fine. I WAS NEVER HARD TO PUT ON. I would check with a flash or a trigger and see if you have the same problem, may be camera hotshoe side spring are the issue.

The two copper-coloured pins on my Visoflex 2 depress very easily. The relevant pin on yours presumably did not. Do you still have the one that caused the damage? No, I don't have them, my Leica dealer was absolutely great and took back the 2 Visoflex and also gave me a new M11 because the hot shoe has been damaged. I won't by a Visoflex 2 anymore... but I just wanted to understand what happened.
Gelatino Posted December 16, 2022 Share #7 Posted December 16, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would not stay on that bad experience with the visoflex2. You surely have been unlucky with the one(s) you got, but your Leica dealer did well changing both viso and body. IMO, EVF is a great help in some circumstances to overcome limits of the RF system. DenverSteve Posted December 17, 2022 Share #8 Posted December 17, 2022 (edited) First, I'm glad whatever caused your damage was handled by your Dealer. I had not previously examined the contact pins on my Visoflex 2, but after reading your post, I did. The two outside pins that mate with the rear two contacts on the M11 are the easiest contact pins to push that I've ever experienced. Mine require no pressure and offer no resistance. They could, in no way, cause the damage you show, or any damage for that matter. Additionally, I see no possible way the pins could damage anything. I'm more surprised that you found two different Visoflex 2s, in one store, that were both completely defective. I can't even imagine, with the limited production of this accessory, that a single store had two, completely defective, Visoflex units that somehow failed final inspection and ended up at the same Leica store. Boggles the mind. 🤷♂️ Edited December 17, 2022 by DenverSteve

I don't see what, but he may be right... Two Visoflex not working in the same store is quite strange indeed... you're right.

Incredible that you got that damaged a hotshoe on delivery but i would quit using any accessory on it as long as it is not repaired. And please, never force you can only aggravate things.
