payasam Posted January 24, 2012 Share #541 Posted January 24, 2012 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Are you thinking of nail polish because it can (perhaps) be removed with acetone without damaging the paint below? I have no intention of selling my M6, so making a permanent change is not ruled out. I would have painted the white lettering if I hadn't been so clumsy with a brush. The red dot, for the same reason, could not be painted. I used a couple of fine tipped black markers to do the job. The result is not perfect, but it will do. As the white/silver lettering is raised, scraping it clean with the point of a knife was easy. I have a new red dot which Leica USA sent me at no charge. One of these days I might paint it black and replace the present dot with it. Peter_m, many users do not like the white lettering and the red logo. They stick out, visually. In the same way, many people remove the brand labels which are now attached to the outside of clothing. payasam Posted January 24, 2012 Share #543 Posted January 24, 2012 Here is a possible answer to your first question. It should work, though I cannot guarantee that. I have routinely used the moon to check R/F alignment. When I tried that with my M6, I did not get a sharp image. What I got was a bright circle surrounded by a diffuse halo, and plenty of ghost images. This did not happen with two M3s or an M2, so it is my guess that an M6 with an "upgrade" will also give a clean image.

payasam Posted January 29, 2012 Share #546 Posted January 29, 2012 A killer combination. I specially like the grey dot. Dust is always a problem for me. Often I have to re-take photos as the first attempts are unacceptably dusty.

costakarl Posted February 1, 2012 Share #549 Posted February 1, 2012 Bought mine new in 1990. Since then it has visited several continents and performed impeccably. Passing through Wetzlar about 5 years ago I dropped it off for CLA. Which they did, but also replaced some electronic component. I had not noticed any anomaly but they returned my M6 to Canada in 'as new' condition. Next assignment in 30 days time--safari in Zambia. It will be gobbling up abot 30 rolls of slide film. Can't wait.
Iver Aldas Posted February 2, 2012 Share #550 Posted February 2, 2012 Oh my, I'm drooling to see all your Leica M6's here. I love them all. I have been using an M6 for quiet some time now and trust me it's a part of me already. I even sold my first M6 with the purpose of replacing it with an MP but 3 days after it was sold I missed it so much that I immediately bought my second M6. I've been using it with all my projects and it's serving me well. Here's my darling: Project's that I have worked using this Leica M model: Tuberculosis Epidemic in the Philippines The Entertainers: Issue on Animal Rights in the Philippines Some of my street photographs:

There will be some wildlife watching (gotta get some form of gyro-stabilisation installed in my M6 for the kangaroos ), street photo and general scenic/landscape.
