Now I love my M6 and M7 even more, as I got two black dots today, to fit them better to the M8.2 ;-)

Just a quick grab, as I have to shoot some rolls now, after using the chance, to set the M7 RF to that new 90 pre-A Cron!

I almost forgot, what descent shutter speed you get with ISO6400 BW film opposed to my dearly loved M8.2 ;-)

Beautiful camera! Every time I see an M6, I feel like I would LOVE to own such a handsome piece of machinery some day, then I remember I already do.

Me to. I own one since two days. So happy. Just reloaded with a TriX role :)

Dirk - did you remove the white lettering of the M6, M9?

If so then how did you do it?

Just a tooth pick ??? - does it work on the M6 as well it does on the M9?

I did it to my M9 with no issues...

Does the red dot change to the back dot as easy on the M6 M7 as it does on the M9??

Cheers

Michael - here are some details:

M6 classic:

- chrome body,

- no changes,

- only exchanged Leica Logo to original black Leica Logo (as easy, as with all other bodies)

M7 0.85 (early, with contact DX reader):

- black chrome body,

- no changes,

- taped M7 lettering

- exchanged Leica Logo to original black Leica Logo (as easy, as with all other bodies)

- I wish, the M7 had a black hot shoe like the M8.2 (Leica you are listening ? Please have this as an a la carte option on all bodies, as it can not be changed within practical terms)

M8.2 (no M9 arrived here yet):

- black paint body,

- removed white M8 lettering (toothpick technique),

- brassing on M8 engraving gets now very obvious (much more beautiful than the white paint in my opinion)

- original Leica black Logo remains

I contacted Don from DAG camera, if his listed item DAGM100 (I believe) is available, as on his web site it is listed as no stock.

He responded very quickly and helped me, to receive 2 items to Shanghai (thanks Don ;-) ).

I used the occasion, having full access to the vertical RF alignment, to perfectly adjust the M6 and M7 - they indeed are completely different cameras now!

All of these cameras are so beautiful - and (no disrespect to a great camera) when I pick up my M8 again after using the M6 for a while, it feels almost like a toy in comparison to the solid heft of the film camera.

Assuming you have an M6 Classic this is correct. M6TTL added an OFF position to the dial.

Also don't advance the film lever until you are ready to shoot - that too prevents drain if I am not mistaken

hi gang. i have used the m6 for the last four years. i too have been tempted by lens hoods, cases, motors, grips, eye cups and so far i have only fallen for the leicavit but it was well worth it.

i am now at the point where i am considering a second body and today in fact i fondled a TTL for the very first time. is it me or does anyone else feel a cheaper build quality when compared to a classic m6? this is purely subjective but my own limited two cents' worth.

best.

I'd say that regardless of impressions of build-quality, it may be disorienting to use the two bodies together because of the contrary dial.

thanks for bringing this up. one the reasons why i sold all my other stuff was precisely because i want highly intuitive, no-think camera handling.

best
