John Leekley Posted September 7, 2022 Share #1 Posted September 7, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I’d like to be able to give a copy of my photo to the person (total stranger) who agreed to be photographed on the street. Will a Fuji Instax link to the camera’s (m10r) Fotos app seamlessly so I can reach in my pocket and pull out a print? Or are we still not there yet? Advertisement Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Hi John Leekley, Take a look here Fuji Instax for street photography. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest Posted September 7, 2022 Share #2 Posted September 7, 2022 I don’t know about linking to the Leica Fotos app, but you could download the photo to your phone and print from that to the Instax printer. A little convoluted yes, but would work.
John Leekley Posted September 9, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted September 9, 2022 Thank you, Othomas. I’ve come to the same conclusion based on reading the Instax blurb on the B&H website. The phone/Instax combo would be a clumsy lash-up. I want to be able ask, take the snap, reach in my pocket and hand over a nice pic with a thank-you. I don’t want to have first fumble with the phone then fumble with the printer. Takes too much time and appears unprofessional. And I think it’s important that, having taken someone’s image, you give them something in return. I’m surprised that the street photo community hasn’t asked for something like this. thanks again. RMF Posted September 9, 2022 Share #4 Posted September 9, 2022 (edited) I’ve thought about the exact same issue and came to the same conclusion as you did @John Leekley. I wished there was a simple flow where I didn’t have to use a phone >fotos app >instax app as an intermediary when using an m10-r. Here is a thought… if one was using an M11 (which I believe has Bluetooth) could one connect directly to the inStax app on the phone rather than the Leica Fotos app? What’s also unique with the wide instax printer is that you could print out a print to give to someone and it allows you to include a QR code in the pic (which could link to your website or IG page). Still clumsy though and need to use the phone. Edited September 9, 2022 by RMF

Derbyshire Man Posted February 23 Share #8 Posted February 23 Can I flag this back up? After my recent experience in Athens a butcher in the market did a good impression of wanting to fillet me with a knife after I took a photo it struck me that returning the next day with a Greek translation and photo as a thank you might have helped relationships and actually allowed some further photos I though more about this (I had considered it before I went but didn’t feel the canon selphy1500 was quite right). while I superficially think the sofort 2 might work the big issue is I can’t get me head around how it would be feasible to tweak the SOOC images from the M (which typically I under expose)before going to the printer on the sofort. Is there a way to do this or would I be weirdly better off with just the instead mini printer or Fuji version of the sofort? All alternatives considered! TomB_tx Posted February 23 Share #9 Posted February 23 I started using my Dad's Polaroid SX70 again. Sounds like what it was made for...
Derbyshire Man Posted February 23 Share #10 Posted February 23 I’d taken a single shot on my M11 with the 50mm lens and he was already waving a knife at me, not sure I’d have wanted to pull out another camera, in fact I definitely don’t want to pull out another camera!😂
250swb Posted February 26 Share #11 Posted February 26 Maybe pull out a bigger knife? No of course not, but planning ahead for rare occasions when somebody with a beef wants to fillet you isn't street photography even if you aren't chicken. If somebody is mad at you anyway doubling down on it by producing another photograph isn't going to help, the guy will wonder how many other photos of him you're going to produce. Just use a smile or something and behave like a tourist, or even buy some beef. 2
Chris W Posted February 26 Share #12 Posted February 26 I have used the Instax printer quite a bit. My images needed quite a lot of editing to make the Insta print look anything decent. Even then, it is still a small print, often blown highlights and shadows without detail. In the end I ditched it for the Canon Selphy. Great looking prints almost immediately. I think they carry more value for the subject too.
stuny Posted February 26 Share #13 Posted February 26 Instant images are very powerful. We used to travel with Barbara using a small Polaroid that produced small prints, which she'd give to people. This warmed things up for me to take photos with a more serious camera, as well as photos of people's reactions to the polaroid image. In a tiny Tai Dam village in Laos we sat with a 100-year-old man in his little hut for nearly an hour, during which Barbara took his photo and gave it to him, while villagers waited outside, protective of this venerated basket weaver from we foreigners. When he saw the photo he first cried, having never seen a photo of himself before. Then he noticed from the photo that his scar wasn't adjusted properly, so he fired it. Villagers approved of us after seeing the old man's reaction to Barbara's photo. We bought one of his small baskets and it still have a slight odor of the smoke from his fire, where he was roasting a taro for us to share. After we paid him for the basket he celebrated by lighting a cigaret, taking two puff, then extinguishing it to smoke at a later time. This was 20 years ago. His image is below, as well as other images of reactions to Polaroids Welcome, dear visitor!
