Leica m10-r with Voigtlander lenses

I’m interested to know if the Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f1.4 II mc and 50mm f1.5 II mc vintage have enough resolving power to mount on a m10-r.  I’m currently using these VM’s on my m-10 with good results and just bought a m10-r.  Your experience would be most welcome.

Yes, and seeing you already have the 10-r you can verify this!

IMO, it won’t be able to maximize the sensor from f4 to wide open, could not do it on my M10, highly doubt that it will on the R

I own an M10-R and several Voigtlander lenses.

I have the following:

28mm F2 VII ASPH

35mm F2 APO

50mm F2 APO

50mm F/1.2 ASPH

I own several Leica lenses as well. Each lens has its own signature. As far as their ability to draw, overall resolution, sharpness and contrast, the CV lenses are a great option and are on par or better than their Leica equivalents, unless you get into the exotic, expensive Leica lenses, but even then, the CV lenses are very, very close.

i like using vintage FSU lenses and M mount glass on the GFX. i find the camera/lens combo easily out resolves my talent 😅 occasionally i do stop down by 1 to 2 stops for the best IQ, but that's just because i'm trying to push 100 megapickles through a 50 year old lens.

but seriously, unless you 'need' edge to edge sharpness wide open at 200% for a picture of your cat, the resolving power of a modern lens shouldn't be a problem 🙂

I use the VC 50 1.0 VM which was definitely calculated sufficiently for the M 10 R. To bridge the gap, I also use the VC 35 1.7 VM, which came onto the market about 2 years ago. Since it was also used for the R IV, it should also have been calculated for the M 10 R.
In any case, I can't find any significant, recognizable disadvantage compared to Leica lenses. Although in my opinion the maximum quality can only be achieved with the Summilux, the new Apo's and the ASPH. On the other hand, if you compare VC and Leica side by side, you will be able to see a slight difference.
It would also be bad if a VC for 1,100 or 1,700 showed the same imaging performance as a lens for 5,000 or 9,000.
And so it is up to your eyes to see and tolerate the difference.

You have both the lenses and the camera, so just try them and judge for yourself. FWIW the Nokton Classic 40mm f1.4 is one of my favourite lenses, wide open or stopped down, particularly on the M10R.

To be honest with you, I believe that the whole “this lens can’t resolve this sensor” is nonsense. 

What happens, I have an M10R and I did shoot the 50f1.5 II with it, is that whatever the lens is it gets amplified by the 40MP sensor. You can see the character of the lens much more clearly  that’s all.

I had the single coated version. It was supposed to give a muted softer rendering than the MC. Well when I shot it on the M10P I couldn’t see what they were talking about. It looked like a modern lens to me with a lot of contrast. I ignored it. Then I switched to the M10R and all that stuff the manufacturer said about single coat came to life. 

I also shoot the 28f2 Ultron II. The rendering of this lens didn’t change at all. If anything things shot with it just look more beautiful on the M10R.
