It's official...The new Leitz Wetzlar M6 is top of page on the Leica website.

I love it!   It it beautiful!  I want one.  Reminds me of my first M6....only without all of its quirks.

I wonder if my two M2's will be enough in trade to get me a new M6? (probably not...huh?)

Nice Work Leica! and thanks for continuing to make film cameras.

Hmmm... I find it tempting. I still have and use my 1985 M6 in black chrome, which has held up very well - except when I stored it with a battery installed, which leaked and damaged the meter circuit board, etc. - so it was serviced and meter updated in 2010, and later had the RF/VF updated, so it has been a joy to used since. It still looks almost new - has the plastic film on the baseplate. Might have to get it a younger brother to compare...

Looks to be a great success. Whilst everyone will have their own views, it seems entirely logical to return to the M4-M7 style film advance and rewind levers. The M-A/MP style is aesthetically great but not ergonomically (but as I said, many will have their own preferences).

Yeah those levers look cool in their own way…but I always hated the big LEICA M6 lettering on the front and the red dot…I think most people do that’s why M-P versions of all digital Ms with no lettering or logo cost more than the regular versions.

This M6 release is great, but should be way cheaper than this. Hard to see anyone going for this over the MP if they have a very similar price, unless you really want to have lettering and logos on your cameras; nothing wrong with that, each to their own : p

agreed, I think it comes down to a question of aesthetics, always nice for people to have a choice!

Just wait for the M6-P with no lettering or red dot. for $1000 more 😉

It's a lifestyle product. What do you expect?

I expected and hoped for a tool about 3500€ to lure people that never shot film before into film photography.
5050€ is crazy…
And not even a modernized shutter that makes 1/2000 to be able to take photos with all the Luxes wide open during the day…
