I understand firmware 3.1 make it possible to easily connect to the Leica FOTOS (iPhone app) but I am unable to locate a reliable source for this update. It doesn't seem to be available from Leica.  I did find a source be not sure I trust it. Any thoughts on connecting to iPhone.  I have version 3.0 firmware now.

The file can be found in the link above, v 3.1 for Q and Q-P.  I could not downloaded it on my iMac, but a friend could on his PC and shared it via Dropbox with me.  Works fine now connecting my Q to my IPhone Xr.

I put a zip file containing a pdf of the install instructions and the firmware file -- Q116_31_.quf -- on my web server.  It will be there for a short while before I remove it.  Download at your own risk.  It is the same firmware I put on my Q.

Thank you marchyman, I just purchased a q and your link was the only location I was able to successfully download v3.1. I’m now able to connect my camera to my fotos app.

For a time, whenever I linked FOTOS to my camera, it didn't show that an update was available. Then about a month ago I opened FOTOS and it said that 3.1 was available for installation. I simply clicked install on FOTOS, and the app did the rest.

Do you think there will ever be any future firmware upgrades for Q?

The Typ 116 Q seems to be abandoned by Leica, to be no further expense on this discontinued model I rather think.

When a camera is out of production it makes little sense to update it. Having no updates has nothing to do with abandoning or such. It only means that it is a completed product. When there is a reason to update, Leica will do so. For instance when they introduce a new lens. But that does not apply to a fixed lens camera. Having said that there are instances of Leice sending out post-production updates.

I rather think you have idealist point of view, they do not present further firmware because it would impact on sales of later cameras that had the improved functions, even  the Q could have an easy technical upgrade for those improvements with a firmware update.
