Don_B Posted August 14, 2022 Share #1 Posted August 14, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I understand firmware 3.1 make it possible to easily connect to the Leica FOTOS (iPhone app) but I am unable to locate a reliable source for this update. It doesn't seem to be available from Leica. I did find a source be not sure I trust it. Any thoughts on connecting to iPhone. I have version 3.0 firmware now. Advertisement Posted August 14, 2022 Posted August 14, 2022 Hi Don_B, Take a look here Leica Q firmware 3.1. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Don_B Posted August 14, 2022 Author Share #2 Posted August 14, 2022 Further note: I found the file on https://leica-camera.com/en-US/downloads , but the download fails. Just to test further I tried the v 3.0, it failed too. This was using the Brave browser. Then tried Safari which downloaded a larger bit, but then stopped downloading. SrMi Posted August 14, 2022 Share #3 Posted August 14, 2022 I could not find it either. Your best bet is to contact Leica and ask them about the 3.1 firmware for the Q.
Don_B Posted August 14, 2022 Author Share #4 Posted August 14, 2022 The file can be found in the link above, v 3.1 for Q and Q-P. I could not downloaded it on my iMac, but a friend could on his PC and shared it via Dropbox with me. Works fine now connecting my Q to my IPhone Xr. marchyman Posted December 16, 2022 Share #7 Posted December 16, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I put a zip file containing a pdf of the install instructions and the firmware file -- Q116_31_.quf -- on my web server. It will be there for a short while before I remove it. Download at your own risk. It is the same firmware I put on my Q. https://www.snafu.org/Firmware-3.1.zip

pwilmo Posted January 6, 2023 Share #10 Posted January 6, 2023 Do you think there will ever be any future firmware upgrades for Q? The Typ 116 Q seems to be abandoned by Leica, to be no further expense on this discontinued model I rather think.

For a time, whenever I linked FOTOS to my camera, it didn't show that an update was available. Then about a month ago I opened FOTOS and it said that 3.1 was available for installation. I simply clicked install on FOTOS, and the app did the rest.

Having no updates has nothing to do with abandoning or such. It only means that it is a completed product. When there is a reason to update, Leica will do so. For instance when they introduce a new lens. But that does not apply to a fixed lens camera. Having said that there are instances of Leice sending out post-production updates. pwilmo Posted December 26, 2023 Share #16 Posted December 26, 2023 I rather think you have idealist point of view, they do not present further firmware because it would impact on sales of later cameras that had the improved functions, even the Q could have an easy technical upgrade for those improvements with a firmware update. thiru Posted February 15 Share #17 Posted February 15 For those who are still looking for the latest firmware ver 3.1 for Leica Q, it is still available on the Leica support site but somewhat difficult to locate. This is the current location of this firmware on Leica : https://leica-camera.com/sites/default/files/Q116_31_.quf
