I’d go a little easier on the grad masks in your skies, and personally would remove the effect in other elements of the composition such as buildings and trees (you can use a brush tool to remove parts of a mask in lightroom). My masking technique is clumsy and I need to get stuck into improving it. 30+ years ago I used to use a polarizing filter pretty much constantly to get the effect I wanted and to avoid burned out skies when shooting transparencies. 1 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Blue Tit was approx 1.5m from camera lens; I was sitting on a low seat next to the bird feeders at Swaddywell Nature Reserve, Peterborough UK.
