First proper portrait with my CL. Made with the sigma 56mm F1.4. Got it as a birthday gift and very pleased with the quality. This is from an avid Fuji X-pro user.

We are also in France for the weekend - Wimereux. A place you can truly socially distance.

There’s a muted elegance to this photo and to this place that I really like.

Very nice... any travel troubles, France being on Amber list?

Apart from going against UK travel advice (but not against the law) it was straightforward, Jayne. PCR test before we go, LF test to return in a pharmacy in Wimereux on Saturday afternoon, Day 2 & 8 test packages booked for this week, plus a Test-To-Release booked for this Saturday which, we hope, will see us out of quarantine on Sunday. Quite a lot of paper work in both directions, but once we worked out what was required it was simple enough. We drove via the tunnel, stayed with our daughter and family (who we hadn't seen since last summer) in an AirBnB for the weekend, and didn't come into contact with anyone else. Much less risky, IMO, than flying to Portugal to party for a week. Wimereux is just 40 minutes from Calais.

It will be different from today: France has blocked all UK travellers except for emergencies and, presumably, truck drivers and politicians.

The only aspect we were not ready for, and which was discomforting, was mandatory wearing of face masks outdoors in busy public areas and on the sea front, though the beach seemed to be exempt. I didn't realise how annoying they are when worn continuously, rather than just in shops etc.

Well that sounds like you had it well planned out, I just got fed up of trying to sort it all out from the gov website... ended up feeling too confused to bother🙂!   Our daughter and family has had an AirBnB villa in the Algarve for the last week and had asked us to go too, gave it a miss but have been sent lots of photo's of them in their masks, all the testing has certainly added to the cost significantly.

Still can't quite understand why two UK football teams had to go to Porto to play one another though.

A daughter & s-i-l fluent and native in French (plus two grandsons who speak English & French simultaneously!) certainly helped understand the French requirements. We had planned to stay with them in Brussels, but the Belgian authorities 'clarified' the regulations to say that non-EU citizens could not reside with local families - hence the switch to Wimereux.

The French pharmacy that tested us on Saturday was charming, efficient and cheap. The clinic we have used here was charming and efficient........
