As someone raised on metering to 18% grey, it still amazes me to see such vibrant colors mixed with an honest portrayal of white snow. Let's hear it for white balance!

We have some serious flooding in my home town of Shrewsbury, for the second time this year though the present one is set to break some records.  Had a walk around this afternoon, checking on my daughter and family who have a house one side of the river and a business the other.  Fortunately no serious problems for them yet, although the bottom of their garden is completely underwater and they now have a view of what seems like an enormous Lake rather than the usual fields, show ground and river.  Environment Agency advised them to close their print shop this afternoon before the River was due to peak as it was creeping ever nearer.  Anyway couple from my walk.   CL 55-135.

Jayne, I feel for you and your family and do hope all will well for them. Nature is certainly dealing some difficult hands this year and it is hard to see how communities living on former flood plains will cope in the future. However, there does seem to be some serious thinking about applying serious measures up-stream, thus delaying the unrelenting flood water flows  further down. Your pictures make for a depressing sight.

I'm so sorry, Jayne.

Here, in New England in February, we have buds on roses and hyacinths well on their way to flowering. At least a month ahead of nature's schedule.

While that's certainly far preferable to what others are experiencing, it's all part of the same condition, I'm afraid.

Thanks Ken, I'm pretty sure our family will get off very lightly this time, I do really feel for people having to clear up after these floods.

And from the other extreme, I find it hard to get images of Koala bears and other wildlife trying to escape the awful fires in Australia out of my head, they are still burning, even though the images seem to have disappeared from our Tv at present.  As you say Ken, all part of the same condition.

Gosh.  Sorry that you have such a problem situation!  Here in DC we're having a very spring like winter!

Jane, so sorry to hear about your flooding. I am glad it is not too bad, as you mentioned. Here, in South Florida, the parkings are usually above the floor and no underground rooms because of the hurricanes that are getting more serious every year because of climate warming.

Stay well and safe with all your loved ones, dear friend.
