What a great trip that will be! Young at heart makes you that "girl" (though with a happier ending!)

Thanks Ken.. thankfully (hopefully) no landmines in Budapest, looking at weather forecast just likely to freeze or wash me away😁!

A couple more from last Sunday. I'm not too sure if the first will appeal so please tell me if it works. The second is just a bit of fun.

Lovely picture.  Enjoy that trip but don't be that girl!  It would be tragic for us all...

I look forward to seeing your photographs. I'm going to Budapest at the end of May - and planning some time in the rest of the country as well.

This is stunning. I’ve just come out of a screening of 1917 and this landscape is very reminiscent of many of those scenes.

Thank you. It's in Suffolk where we spend the weekends. We'd been out all day, I'd taken my camera bag and there was nothing but gloom. As we arrived home the sun broke out so I dropped my husband off, jumped in the driving seat and drove a short mile or so to the lower road which is single track and is nothing but fields.  I decided to give the sheep a miss and came here, further down, instead. The light was amazing and this almost qualifies as a hill in Suffolk 😁 I'll come back in the spring when it's full of rape seed. .

Now I'll have to read the book (and finish watching Rolling Thunder) Bring back some wonderful pictures; we will all pray to the weather gods for you.

Yesterday it rained heavily overnight then the sun came out.  Going for my constitutional walk on the Common I took my new 18-56 zoom along.  Dippy's wonderful results had reminded me that even in the dreariest weather there are photo opportunities if you just look for them.  Not that I had to try hard.  It was pretty boggy underfoot but the combination of water and sunlight produced some excellent photo opportunities.

I picked up the used TL18-56 in the January sales for about a third of new price.  Was a little nervous about what the IQ would be like but I need not have worried -- it performed splendidly.  I have not used a zoom for many, many years.  It felt quite lazy to compose by adjusting the zoom rather than walking backward/forward to get the right framing.
Hope you enjoy the results.  All the following shots are with the TL18-56.

Hmmm!  I have just spent nearly an hour trying to resize each of five photos to fit as close to the .49MB limit as possible.   The first two I have posted look terrible compared to the originals.  There must be a better way.   If there are instructions on the forum on how to do this better, could someone point them to me please?   I wont add any more pics until I get this figured out properly.

Will also post this question in the 'how to' thread.

I use 1200x800 @ 200ppi, gets me there most of the time, but images with a lot of detail or taken at higher ISOs seem to need more shrinkage. Then I will use 180ppi or 1100 on the long side. I agree that these sizes don't show the best of an image. There is the point that in most cases you can get the whole image on a screen. I use a 13 inch laptop most of the time. Photoshop or InDesign go on my second screen but that is about it.

What a beautiful sight,  Dippy. Quite mesmerising without the third dimension.

There were a number of interesting installations and displays but how to photograph them was mostly a bit of a puzzle.

This with the 11-23 at 23mm and ISO 6400
