Such a great place for photography. You could spend every day for a year here

July is a great time particularly if you catch the annual barge race, which starts at Pin Mill and then proceeds out to sea before returning.

I can't show you any pics here as they were taken on my Nikon but you can see a couple HERE.

Probably the best place to photograph the race is from Shotley. Easy parking down by the sailing club and a walk up stream to clear the Felixstowe docks on the far side, then open fields as a backdrop.

Beautiful shots! When I lived in Milan I had friends who owned a family holiday home in Alpe di Siuzi where I could go and "retreat". Beautiful area and I loved the onion dome churches and all the wonderful rich food - Speck! Listening to Joe Zawinul's "In a silent way" brings it all back.

Great! I'll look out for that next year.

Love this shot - especially the creamy white of the stone. I'll be seeing the older version in a few days as we're off to Granada and Cordoba on Thursday with Alhambra tickets on Friday.  This is my third visit - I love it and I love this style of architecture.

I went to the Alhambra 35 years ago and it's breathtaking. Somewhere I have color transparencies...One day I will get back there.

Personally though, I would cheat and clone out the white text in the colour version as I think it distracts somewhat.

In the old days, you'd cut out a piece of cardboard with a curved slot and burn in the white text. It's not called cheating. It's called "craft."

But I have zero doubt you know that.

Despite the fact that I am comfortably into my 60's I only took up photography about 8 years ago. I learnt my craft on digital and my only experience of film photography is when I used to take my holiday snaps into Boots to be developed 😁 So believe it or not I find that quite fascinating and I admire all those who had the patience and tenacity to learn in the age of film.

Two more from the CL and TL 35 - really not sure it was worth the climb I endured to get the second one, would not do it again, those steps up St Peters Dome are very claustrophobic when full of people pushing to the top.

Welcome back and thanks for the lovely shots - the one from the top of St Peter's is really worth it - for us.  But I'm not sure I would have done the climb!
