Such a great place for photography. You could spend every day for a year here

Yes, especially if you remember to chuck your wellies into the car when you set off. Unfortunately I didn’t and as it was high tide my movement was curtailed. I’m looking forward to the happy moment when the planets align to give good weather, good light and a low tide for some interesting shots here. Apparently there are some wrecks nearby, do you know them?
There were a few ‘serious’ photogs milling around and waiting for sunset. They had big DSLRs, filters, tripods and wellies!

There are some converted derelict barges, if you take the footpath downstream from Pin Mill - is that what is meant?
And, yes, you need wellies for the foreshore - very smelly!
Good food at the Butt & Oyster!

I saw these but couldn't get to them because the water was too high. Next time!

The Butt and Oyster is now top of my list for somewhere new to try. I popped my head in and it was full inside as well as out.

This dog is saying 'Guys, guys! Don't you know that they do a fantastic Roast Beef Special here and it's three for the price of two!!!!' :D

@Dippy, if you take the footpath in front of the Butt & Oyster you can get to where I took my shots in the dry. But to get close to the wrecks in my second shot you have to jump over the pilings onto the intertidal stretch - but you may know this already.

It has been a while since I last used any of my old Nikkor lenses on my CL. I have always enjoyed using manual lenses  on T (701) and CL; having more control on focusing and the background. But focusing manually  is not always very practical for street photography.

Yesterday, I took my Nikkor 50 mm, f/1.4 ; and once again, I was blown away by sharpness and rendering of this old lens of the 70s!

When I opened the following shot on my computer, I was surprised to see my own reflection on the IPhone screen that my subject was holding!

I also found the color rendering and the bokeh of this old manual lens very acceptable.

Great photos, as always, Louis. I should use my older Nikon lenses more often, but I'm still besotted by the TL and M lenses.

BTW, I don't think that's a reflection of you on her phone. I think she's craftily taking your photo at the same time! Probably you're now a subject on her social media. 😃

Thanks Rob.  I like the range of the 24-105 on the CL, the image stabilisation makes it good for low light handholding, things not to like, obviously the size and battery consumption.   I think it helped to make shots like this one possible which was 1/13 at f/16 without a tripod.

Jayne, excellent samples from your Rome trip. Regarding your quoted exposure, why did you choose to use f/16 or were you seeing how slow you could go with IS?

Such great shots - and like Dippy will try not to imagine pain of tattoo's!

Thank you and no I really wasn't testing the IS, I have used the lens a lot and know it works well with even slower shutter speeds  - was just looking for maximum DOF as bags suggested.  In hindsight I needn't have pushed it that far f/11 would have been more than enough.  TBH the main draw of the lens is having roughly 35 - 150mm even though I think IQ from the Leica zooms is better, it's nice not to changes lenses and have that IS when the light drops.  Was close to sunset when I took that image and light was a lot lower than perhaps the photo suggests, I lifted shadows and exposure quite a bit.

I rarely choose color over B&W, and I hesitate to disagree with a photographic eye so good as Dippy's, but in this case, I vote color. Brings out the tats, which are incongruous, given the sport.

Thank you for the compliment Ken but I don't think my opinion is anything more than my opinion or that it has any more value than yours.

I do think it's a pity that we ask it as an 'either or' question. I have photos where I like the colour version as well as the B&W. They are different but of equal merit and equal appeal to different viewers. I think this is a perfect example of that. B&W has shape and form whilst the colour version is more  dynamic. Personally though, I would cheat and clone out the white text in the colour version as I think it distracts somewhat.
