Do you know the man in the photo? Is that his name?

It was meant as a joke, because the man looks (a little) like the US jazz guitarist Bill Frisell. You never heart something about him?

Nope, never heard of Bill Frisell, but I checked out his website, and I agree that he looks very much like the man in my photo. Maybe it's his father. 😁

I know Bill Frisell. Not personally, but I have a couple of albums. Vinyl to be exact. Haven't heard that name in over 30 years.

@bags27 what exactly is a "filmic" feel? I'd like a bit more discussion about this here, especially with the CL. Does that mean grainy? Lack of detail? What?

We, as a society, have rushed forward with a bigger sensor, more megapixels, better processors, etc. More tech. Digital tech. I saw a google camera last fall that had something like 7 lenses. Not great lenses, obviously, but seven. You can focus after the fact. You can create whatever bokeh you want. And more.

Yet we still long for the "filmic" feel. And now we "recreate" it with software and sliders on your tablet.  I realize all have different applications. . .

I don't decry the digital revolution, I just think we got a bit ahead of ourselves.

end rant/

Again.

I promise to stop doing this. 😀

First post to the CL Image thread - Via del Babuino, Rome.

CL, 18-56TL

There are so many brilliant images on here -  truly inspiring ! ..... I hope there isn't a limit to the number of likes I can use per day ;)

Honest question, is isolating colour in an image a thing of the past ? meh !

and the new 55-135. Thought this wasn't for me, and then took some casual quick snaps. Got home, processed them, and found this one hiding... surprisingly. Pairings?

Probably (isolating colour), but I like it anyway - especially suits this one, little Fiat 500 in the streets of Rome had to be done. Welcome to the CL, nice start.

Well, nothing is ever a thing of the past if it works but it can be clichéd which is something different. Why not try a different approach? Adjust the saturation and vibrance of your image till the colour is no longer intrusive then pop the red. It will look a little more natural too. You can take the colour quite close to monochrome without losing it completely.

Oh, and welcome.
