Had a couple of quiet days in Wales... CL Voigtlander 40mm 1.2   First image I used a soft focus and diffused filter in Color Efex, I sometimes find this lens a little too sharp.

Beautiful!  Did I notice in the other thread that you've got yourself a Q2 as well 🙂 ?

Father and Son DIY, and yes I was nagging behind the camera at lack of goggles, gloves or indeed any thought of health and safety!  My husband giving Dan a helping hand using old wood to recycle into new window boards for his first home ownership project.  CL and again CV 40mm 1.2

I have to say that from the time I used to do a bit of carpentry I always found goggles and safety equipment intrusive.  Thought I'm glad my son never took to it - I would have insisted on it for him 🙂

Love the pictures!

On the occasion of his 90th birthday, my wife and I had the privilege of joining some Leica friends to celebrate the birthday of veteran Canadian photojournalist Dr Ted Grant OC.

Ted is an iconic photographer in Canada and over a career spanning decades, has photographed Heads of State, no less than seven Olympic Games, world events and much more.

Thanks Vikas, no, no Q in my life, just my CL and M10,  a film M I don't use enough, and one of those Sony things.

I've spent a week walking through the vineyards around Bordeaux. I started at the northern end of the Medoc, where I booked this Airbnb in Lesparre for the first night, and walked south east, ending somewhere round Sauternes. Thereafter I went where I decided on the day, booking on my phone by AirBnb, Booking.com and Google Maps accommodation options. The earliest I booked was the night before, but typically I made a reservation at lunchtime or later. I went for chambres d'hôte where I could, for the sake of the people I'd meet.

A characteristic bedroom in a typical house in an old town.
The landlady gave me a long and sympathetic discourse about Brexit, then congratulated me on my French; I'd said hardly anything.

I carried a CL + 18-56 and 11-23, using the latter most of the time. Another time I'd take the Apo-Macro-Elmarit-TL instead of the 18-56.

Really lovely series and looking forward to seeing more, your trip sounds perfect to me.  My husband and I used to drive down through France for long holidays in Portugal and Spain, so we could take the dogs.  We many times stopped in small Gites in the Bordeaux area for three or four days on the way down and the same on the way home, it's a beautiful area of France, with so many Vineyards to test😀.   Sadly no one ever complimented my French so well done!

Thank you, Jayne! I enjoy walking through wine growing areas because the fields provide so many easy to find footpaths. Booking accommodation for the night on the day itself gives a great feeling of independence and no-plan chillout. And the wine areas of France and Germany are such great landscapes too - not just flat plains. And if you're also interested in wine......

My French is not great, but enough to get by, and have a conversation with anyone willing to talk slowly! (which most people were)

Brilliant. I would have started in Sauternes and never walked out; it's my favourite tipple.

I have a photo of a Sauternes being drunk for elevenses in Sauternes, but I took it on a Huawei P10: Leica lens, but not CL.

This was my best accommodation, and the lowest cost, booked on Airbnb in the morning. In the middle of a small town. Lovely garrulous couple.

They went out for the evening to play cards till late, leaving me and their dog to mind the house. They told me to eat my takeaway pizza (nothing else was open) in their kitchen, gave me a bottle of local red Graves, sat down either side of me and chatted till time for them to leave. They'd only met me a couple of hours earlier.
