They are fantastic ! I think I favour the first. My 180 R 2.8 is 1976 vintage. I have a plain 2x extender , which fits lens and R to L adapter , and as I've read on the Overgaard website, it creates a halo round the image. So I've just gone and bought a 280 R f4 Telyt, and gone to the other extreme. Yours are incredibly detailed images I have to say. I am a bit of a novice still at being quick at focusing and capturing. The EV. was set at +2 as I'd been lining up a frame against the sky when the Goldfinch suddenly appeared elsewhere, so I squared up the two stops in Lightroom, and cropped somewhat.

Thanks Peter, looks like a good start with your 280 and Goldfinches are so lovely to see, beautiful colourful little birds.  My Deer shots were a little easier to capture, larger targets and pretty still at the time.  Looking forward to seeing some more with your tele.

Leica SL 90-280?  That would reach out to 420mm full-frame equivalent on a CL.  But I would prefer the 55-135mm Vario-Elmar if that is long enough for you.

I recommend the L 55-135 for the CL under condition the tele is long enough for you. Maximal focal length equals to a 200 mm on a FF.  It is not to heavy and bulky  and has a very good IQ.

Albert , try Panas L 70-200/4 . On CL it will be 105-300/4😀

Please excuse me for butting in, but that lens is very tempting from its specs. For the CL, would it have auto exposure, auto focus and O.I.S.? The Lumix Pro S series is supposed to be to Leica specs? Hmmm...

I believe the latest CL/SL firmware upgrade was to make that happen.

My gift to her a day early.  Great Mother and Spouse, for 47 years and counting.

I touched-up her nose in Photoshop as she just completed non life-threatening cancer surgery.

Red Throated hummingbird. Had the 55-135 on my lap while reading on the porch. High ISO to allow shutterspeed and DOF to catch him.

Lovely Albert and congratulations to you both, my better half and I are approaching 42 years so we have a way to go yet!  With that in mind as I was looking at your photo and reading your words these two loved up doves caught my eye through the window, seemed I had to take a photo.

You asked earlier for telephoto suggestions Albert.  Like others, I agree the 55-135 TL is the obvious easy choice.   I would be interested to see some examples of the Panasonic 70-200 F/4 if anyone has one and is using it with the CL.  I have a feeling that like the amazing 90-280 it's probably going to feel a little large.

These two here are taken with the 180R 2.8 and the APO extender again.  Quite a few options if you want to look at adapted lenses, but it all adds weight.

If I may address you as Jane....Thank you very much for all of your posts and for the telephoto lens suggestion. I’ll probably go with the 55-135 TL if I am able to connive a way to smuggle it into kit. The flowers would do little to protect my indiscretion. 🕺
