Thank you for your kind attention. The exifs of the first photo with the 55-135 are as follows: F 11, focal length 135 mm (which is the maximum), shutter speed 1/400, ISO 4000. The picture was taken inside a glass house. The focal length was necessary because there was no way to get nearer to the flowers. Regarding real macros it is easier to make macros with the SL and an adapted Canon Macro lens, but this combination is much heavier and was not with me. The Marumi achromat used in the second picture is a help but cannot replace a real Macro lens. And unfortuantely there is no adapter available and will not be in forseeable future, which allows adapting the Canon lenses on the CL. So for this purpose it is possible to buy the Leica Macro 60 mm - which is excellent but expensive just for a few macros or to wait for the Sigma Macro 70 mm for Leica L. At least I hope this one would work together with the CL too.

Thank you for your facts and thoughts on macro photography with the CL. For limited use, the excellent Leica macro lens is not cost-effective for me. I agree with you that an alternative Sigma Macro lens is probably the better choice for a limited non-professional genre, should such a  lens become available.

I am an ecstatic new owner of a CL with a pancake lens. The sensor of the CL seems way out on its own in quality, delivering no flare from the window, and detailing perfectly the wrinkles in the Pug's coat through the lens which I think is another Leica masterpiece. With the starter bundle the price was £350 for it.

"......serious word on the CL -- I find the performance much better with my M and R lenses than with the 18-50 zoom that came with the camera -- nothing scientific, just my opinion."

Leica zoom lenses are excellent and more versatile; however Leica primes are invariably even better for their given focal lengths. I am currently enjoying using a 50mm Summicron - M on my CL which operates at an effective focal length of 75mm/f2.

Welcome to CL ownership, Petercoll. Lovely ambient lighting.  I can't believe you will stick with a one-lens camera. How will you develop your system ?

I have come up through the ranks. Besides my father's R lenses from the '70's and the '80's , (I have an R to L converter, ouch ! £550) , my TL collection comprises 23 mm, 55-135mm, 18-56mm, 35 TL Summilux and finally 18mm pancake, which is a revelation it's so good. I owned aT for three years, a TL2 for three months. I kept forgetting which tiles to get where in the TL2. drove me crazy. I have a Leica protector case and grey fabric strap, which are totally adequate to hold the camera with. Thank you for your note.

Selection of bridges, Stowe Gardens. 90 f2 R lens. From shade to low sun, the CL strikes a good white balance in my opinion.
