I am sure we all want recognition and folk to like our work but most of us also welcome constructive criticism, a statement of dislike and condemnation with no real explanation or attempt to offer suggestions on how to improve is destructive and may be hurtful. Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however I would suggest some thought goes into when, why and how the opinion should be shared (if at all). Beat me to it. Probably much better worded than I would have done too
Advertisement Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 Hi Graham (G4FUJ), Take a look here Catherine visiting Miami. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Viv Posted August 4, 2022 Share #22 Posted August 4, 2022 It's a very good image of what appears to be a strong and beautiful woman. My single caveat is that I find the background distracting from the subject.
dkCambridgeshire Posted August 4, 2022 Share #23 Posted August 4, 2022 She expresses her femininity and Louis captures her expression beautifully — Wot's not to like? M11's comment says much — but not so much about the lady.

fotografr Posted August 5, 2022 Share #25 Posted August 5, 2022 This really is one of your better street portraits. The image quality, pose and background are all very good. I don't want to put words into someone else's mouth, so to speak, but I think what M11 for me is expressing here is that he doesn't like photographs that treat women as nothing more than sex objects. I agree with that sentiment and have said so in response to other work posted here in the past. I do not, however, feel that to be the case with this image. It's a fine portrait of a lovely, self-confident woman.

I see your point about taking women as “sex objects”, but we can also love women, respect women and celebrate the beauty of a woman; enjoy shooting them without considering them as a sex objects. That said, I also know some women who dream to be a sex object, but I am not interested in them and find their attitude disgraceful. If I happen to take the picture of a good looking man, I doubt anyone would suggest I am using him as a sex subject! Then, I think the questions of these self appointed moralists would be if those cats and dogs are male or female! lol i wonder if these people allow their kids to visit museums and see Venus of Milo or Michelangelo David! … They would also certainly ban great photographers such as Helmut Newton!…
