One fine morning very many more years ago than I care to remember I had to use the "Lil Ratty" to go back down Eskdale to catch a main line train. The engine pulled away…but the driver had forgotten to connect the carriages so we were left standing. Wonderful line and a gloriously beautiful dale: charming, carefully exposed photo.
