vikag Posted July 12, 2022 Share #1 Posted July 12, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone been able to get a longer upto 15/20 feet 3rd party lightning cable to work with the Fotos app? I tried one from Amazon and the fotos app didn’t do anything. It worked only with the original Leica cable. Any recommendations, please do share? RexGig0 Posted July 12, 2022 Share #4 Posted July 12, 2022 “From Amazon” does not mean much. I would want something known, for certain, to be authentically MFI certified.

I guess if someone has used a specific brand successfully then I can look for the same one.
RexGig0 Posted July 12, 2022 Share #6 Posted July 12, 2022 (edited) The Novoflex LEM/LER Adapter, that I ordered from Amazon, was said, in the listing, to be 6-bit coded. The photo in the listing showed a 6-bit coded version. The product was plainly stated to have been received from Amazon stock, and shipped by Amazon, itself. I received the previous version, without 6-bit coding. I realize that Amazon has a quite liberal return policy, but I had bought the last LEM/NIK Adapter, available anywhere in North America, at that point in time, and, the 6-bit coding was not essential, so, I kept the adapter. I have had plenty of bad luck with outside sellers that list products on Amazon. My mental tally, which cannot be expected to be perfect, is more errors than proper fulfillment, for all items, other than books, and items ordered from the quite reliable Adorama, through Amazon. Eventually, I started my account with Adorama, and now order directly from Adorama. B&H is another reliable seller, that I use, though directly from B&H. (I will support my local pro-oriented camera store, Houston Camera Exchange, when they have what I need.) Edited July 12, 2022 by RexGig0

I haven’t tried MFI lightning cable to use with leica fotos honestly since i use usb c to usb c most of the times to my ipad, but my point is the cable i used was rated for data transfer and can be used successfully as long as a cable is officially MFI, it should be used with no problem… mfi alone wont come cheap, how much it cost you btw? Lightning cable that long is going to be difficult for iPhone. You can get one for iPad pro that works in usb-c The are 2 cables, one that does charge and data transfare. And the other just like the one from leica is specific for accessories. So I don't think you will find any that will work.
davidmknoble Posted July 13, 2022 Share #10 Posted July 13, 2022 Longer cables degrade the signal, so it may not be the cable, but the length. I’d consider trying one 6 feet long and see if it works, and expand from there. Is this a tether need? Why such a long cable to start with?

I use ipad,it connects almost instantly, may be try to repair again though in my experience wired connection is faster, may b for ipad since its usb connection is 3.1 speed 5Gbps compared to 480Mbps for lightning cable

I just tried now at home at the first connection to either iPhone or iPad takes about 20 seconds. However, my use case is in a studio and I am not sure if the radio interference there between triggers and receivers maybe making the wifi unreliable. Within seconds, like i turn on the wifi on camera, open the apps, and connect with the m11 camera, within 2-3s not like i could wait n have my coffee how bout, you choose 5Ghz band instead of 2.4Ghz and have a try? It didn’t make a difference to connection time but I did see battery depleting much master (it dropped from like 70% to 30% in 30 min!) than with 2.4Ghz.
