Just had a look at Leica Rumours web page - it may be the end of the MP

Are you determining that because B&H has a typo on their website?

If you click on those, you can see the product number. Black chrome one is the M7 product number, it's just mis-named as MP. The titanium model number was a titanium version of the MP.

Yes, as mentioned in the quoted thread (which was done so we don’t have to go through it all again), the “M7” stamped on the body is a bit of a give away as to what they are.

Is Leica Rumors the site that published the fake story about Leica building an 'affordable' film camera?  Even though it sells all the expensive ones it makes?

Who made up that story?

I bet they (Leica + Consultants) are still debating the 'affordable film M' to come.

Rumors-are-just-that-rumors untill the real thing happens, one day (or never!).

More than  twenty years of production,

maybe time to leave the places for newer "classic M" ?

Hate to be a pedant but I think the MP was introduced in 2003 so it isn't quite twenty years old yet. Still, a longer run than the M6.

I imagine there will be an expensive 20th anniversary edition next year.

How many Leica M film cameras do they sell in a year I wonder? I often hope it's enough to justify production and that my measly purchases do a bit to keep them going :)

Don't know, but they sold me one a couple of months ago. I'm doing my part. :)

For me 2002, but we are a bit picky, I think that most first batch MP may be made in 2001 😇.

2,000 for one year is a big batch but who knows.

I'm not sure what your point is? The Leica MP was announced/introduced in March 2003, at PMA in Las Vegas.

Ian,

I have no point at all.

Ending or not MP building is neutral for me.

Maybe time for Leica to move on with another offering of more modern M, even offering only M-A why not (regular and  Ti).

I had many times MP, and those are just a camera like other Ms that I happily use, not more & not less (or plus built-in meter comparing to M-A/M4).
