fotografr Posted April 30, 2022 Share #1 Posted April 30, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I pulled into my driveway this morning and on the way into the garage I saw this opossum looking around for food. They're normally nocturnal so I think this one has probably just come out of hibernation and is very hungry. When I got out of the car with my camera it headed for the back of the garden and climbed this small tree. The second photo is pretty heavily cropped. I didn't want to get close enough to make it feel threatened. M10R/50 APO Summicron Welcome, dear visitor! Pintpot Posted April 30, 2022 Share #2 Posted April 30, 2022 Lovely Brent, even well cropped the second photo is spot on sharp. I think the look on the opossum's face says 'feed me feed me' 😁

Idawhat Posted April 30, 2022 Share #4 Posted April 30, 2022 Brent, have you ever seen one "Play Opossum"? It's true, when very frightened they shutdown and look dead.

Since my wife was watching from the kitchen window I thought I'd better not. 😉
Idawhat Posted April 30, 2022 Share #6 Posted April 30, 2022 Brent, I saw it once. Years ago I was sighting in a rifle. I had a target set up at 100 yards. Looking thru the rifle scope I noticed an opossum in the target area. It was far enough away from the target that I would not shoot it when I fired the rifle. After firing the rifle I walked down to the target to see where the round impacted the target. On the ground near the target was the opossum. I thought it was dead. It looked dead. I poked it with the rifle barrel and it did not move. I could not understand what happened to it. It was not shot and I'd seen it alive. I went back to my firing position and looked thru the rifle scope to fire my next round. The opossum was up and walking away. It was a very strange experience to be sure. fotografr Posted May 1, 2022 Author Share #7 Posted May 1, 2022 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) That's really very funny. I can easily picture the whole scene. I read it to my wife and we both had a good laugh. She thought the story was a perfect fit for the photo. Edited May 1, 2022 by fotografr
