fotografr Posted March 4, 2022 Share #2 Posted March 4, 2022 Beautiful work on this image. Just the right amount of burn around the edges, very nice tonal range, intriguing subject, perfectly composed.

Something spiritual or religious about this portrait.(my feeling) Is he a Touarg?
Henry Taylor Posted March 13, 2022 Share #6 Posted March 13, 2022 Well done, I'm wondering if his head band has something to do with his tribe or social status.

What were you doing there back in '75? I had planned a trip by truck but time did not permt. I visited my sister who was living in Algiers with her husband and children. I flew into Tamanrasset. Travelled for 3 days in the desert with a Touareg man named Ibigui (spelling?) and a French tourist. The first morning we awoke after sleeping under blankets, no tent, Ibigui was nowhere to be seen. He appeared after an hour or so. I understood that he had gone to get the camels that had wandered off during the night. On the second day, he brought us to his family living in a tent in the middle of what seemed « nowhere». I visited the monastery where Charles de Foucauld lived in the Hoggar. This is one of the most enduring memories of my lifetime. Would love to go back.
