Hi guys,

I got my M11 and have some questions regarding the AUTO ISO (had no issues with it in my M10 or Q2):

I have set the max iso to 25.000 and the shutter speed limit to 1/250s.

Still, when I shot some pictures yesterday the M11 raised the ISO instead of going to the limit of 1/250s (it always takes 1/360sec instead).

Do I understand anything wrong? Is this a bug?

Thanks,

Alex

Speculatively, I believe that the M11 will futz around with speed and ISO to get the most precise combination for the light reading. Since the shutter speed and the ISO have discrete points they can hit, it may have been that 1/360 and the chosen ISO was a better choice for the light conditions than 1/250 and a lower ISO would have been. Because you set max ISO to 25000, it will always assume you're okay with any ISO in that range.

Very well put - that's what I was thinking but hadn't found the form of words to express so clearly!

I would think that is another bug. For example, setting the shutter speed limit to 1/60 will be 1/80, 1/125 will be 1/160, 1/250 will be 1/320, etc. The slowest shutter speed is always 1/3 stop higher than selected. Could you please report it? Thanks!

Oh okay, yeah if it's doing *that* then it's a bug. I thought you meant that sometimes it was 1/250 @ 10000 and other times it was 1/360 @ 12500 or something like that (making up the ISOs). But if it's only ever hitting 1/360 and never going to 1/250, that sounds weird.

I wonder if this was addressed in the latest firmware update.

As @ianforber wrote, it was not fixed. Also not a big issue for me neither. Has anyone filed the bug with Leica?
