Le Chef Posted March 18, 2022 Share #365 Posted March 18, 2022 We simply won't know the truth until Leica pull their finger out and tell their AD's, and Owners officially in writing what they plan to do or not do, and what legacy support they will provide if the answer is negative. adan Posted March 18, 2022 Share #368 Posted March 18, 2022 If it is any comfort, ALL my cameras are now (and sometimes long-) discontinued. Hassy SWC (RIP 2009 - although my actual and preferred plain "C" version was RIP 1980), Mamiya 6 (RIP 1995), Rolleicord Vb (RIP 1977), Leica M2 (RIP 1968)...and Leica M10 (no -R, no -M; RIP 2020). They still work beautifully. 3
lawman Posted March 18, 2022 Share #369 Posted March 18, 2022 The announcement of the demise of the CL looks to be premature. B&H has only discontinued the kit items - the cameras say more on the way and all tl lenses are still listed- will the APS -C live to fight another day? Stay tuned….

"More expected in 2-4 months" no words about being discontinued. And available either as body only or with the 18mm lens as a package. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1376598-REG/leica_19301_cl_mirrorless_digital_camera.html G Edited March 19, 2022 by ramarren
tritentrue Posted March 19, 2022 Share #371 Posted March 19, 2022 I hate to be cynical, but it wouldn't surprise me if "More" they're expecting are refurbished defectives, trade-ins, etc. Leica did this with M9 bodies as recently as a couple of years ago. If something is not selling well, which is what we've heard from multiple sources, why would they make more of them, especially if it's already almost five years old? No surprise, though, to see that it gets 4.5 stars. I'd give mine five! 😉 Welcome, dear visitor! CL may still be in stock anywhere; it doesn’t mean Leica is still making CL, or APSC has not been discontinued! It is normal to get rid of what is left. Maybe this is why Leica is not officially telling us about their decision!….. maybe,…. Maybe….. ! Many, including myself, would be more than happy if CL line is not ended; but….. 3

ramarren Posted March 20, 2022 Share #374 Posted March 20, 2022 I currently have at least thirty cameras. The only one that actually is in current production is the Leica CL. They all still make photographs, regardless. G Equipment is transitory. Photographs endure.
vikasmg Posted March 20, 2022 Share #375 Posted March 20, 2022 (edited) >>Leica CL Camera Now Listed As Discontinued At B&H<< said Leica Rumours. Actually the website says “more on the way” Edited March 20, 2022 by vikasmg
adan Posted March 20, 2022 Share #376 Posted March 20, 2022 I'd just caution that store web sites are poor tea-leaves from which to read the situation - in either direction. At least until the axe actually falls, and one sees "discontinued" for all the possible purchasing options - body only, body with 18-56, body with 23mm, special paint jobs, etc. The same is true for Leica's promotional web site(s). Neither independent stores, nor Leica, want to kick over the applecart while there is still product somewhere in the supply chain (which is global) to be disposed of. For me, "more on the way" means B&H has placed an order with Leica - and has not yet received any formal notification that the order will not be fulfilled. As an example: B&H lists the M11 (also in their "mirrorless" category) as "New item - coming soon." The reality is that B&H has no doubt received and sold multiple M11s already, but since they are working through their pre-order list, they can't sell one today to whoever sees their web site today. Or even promise a future delivery date (since B&H doesn't know how long it will take to receive enough cameras to clear their pre-order list - they may be getting one camera this week, and three cameras next week, and one the week after). ..................... Another point is that Leica's fiscal year ends March 31. Then they have a Supervisory Board meeting sometime after that (it's been June in some years). If Leica is still on the fence about the future of the APSC line, those may be significant dates for a final decision and announcement. 6

Le Chef Posted March 22, 2022 Share #379 Posted March 22, 2022 Everybody on this forum, MacFilos, DPR and LeicaRumors are all recycling the same rumors without one single official confirmation. It’s all simply hearsay. 2
Le Chef Posted March 22, 2022 Share #380 Posted March 22, 2022 The fact that we have pages and pages of conjecture and hearsay across multiple social media platforms tells you one important thing when it comes to Leica, its staff, its suppliers, its dealers, and its customers. Stefan Daniels has lost control of the company’s narrative. All of us on these social media platforms now control what the world thinks about Leica, not the company… 5
