No mention of shake, technique or IBIS.  Might be interesting to see if future use, outdoors without flash/strobe, changes that for him.

Good to see that, although he’d like weather sealing, he says he’s not shy about shooting in bad conditions (reference to Ken’s recent TOP comment. 😉).

Indeed.  But you did catch his suggestion for a tilting screen, didn't you, Jeff?  😉

(I look forward to the future Leica "M-MAX" -- featuring IBIS, an EVF integrated with the rangefinder (Fuji X100V-style), and a tilting screen.  It'll be priced at around US$11,000 and will be offered alongside the M11.)

Supposedly that’s where the M12 is headed (EVF/IBIS), provided Leica can make it work to their satisfaction.  If so, it will be interesting to see if more traditional version(s) remain.

From Gajan Balan, here's a comparison of  the M11 and the Fuji X-Pro3.

JMHO but when we take into consideration both camera's sensors - 60mp at 24x36mm size for the M11 and 26mp at 23.5 x 15.6mm for the X-Pro3 - the choice becomes clear, particularly for those who want to make exhibit quality prints.

I see a lot of people talking about shake, and let me tell you, after a month of shooting every day in various situations, I have not once gotten shaky images where I didn't expect it (like night shots doing 1/6s or so). I'm not particularly steady on my hands, but we all need to calm down a bit regarding shakiness.

Imo the studio is probably where the M11 excels at or most suited/ geared towards to - the working professional. Or at least Leica is trying to give that impression  - fine art photography of the highest IQ, in the  smallest form factor.

Nice review well said.

I appreciate that some firmware update is due to allow tethering with the M11 and LR/C1, and that some people are happy to frame with the rear LCD panel, making the M11 a studio-solution camera. Personally and by far, I stick to my SL2 for studio work, given existing tethering and precision-driven shooting with the EVF. 😀

I think Leica has tried hard with the M series, and more so with the M11, to make it multi-disciplinary and to extend it from its (film) legacy of pure photojournalism / documentary. I think the strength of the M11 is that it can deliver confidently in multiple genres.

I would pay 12k EUR for such a version of M11 no problem.
