:) But 35 1.4 II is the last choice to make for the so called pro, IMO.

They say it is not good at f4 just as you saying about FLE.

And it has way too wonky rendering on f1.4. The only reason I have this lens is because of low ISO limitation of M-E 220.

If I'm looking for a specific render, in the right situation, I could use the Nokton over the biogon ;)

Not everything must to be sharp and with a 3d pop, or modern. That's why, having a few 35 to choose from, it's a good things.

And according to the purpose, I'm ready to use the LLL 35/2 for professional work too

It's all very interested

… I miss a clear distinction between focused and OOF areas…

Does that mean you prefer more rapid falloff that is typical with more recent Leica designs, or some other characteristic?  Some seem to compare the Ultron II to the 35 Summicron ASPH (I have the first version), but with better flare control and no focus shift.  Others, however, describe the Summicron as ‘lacking character’, which has never been a concern of mine.

I just compare it with my Summicron 35 iv on the basis of my memory/experience of what I’m used to see with this lens and this is not a final statement nor very reliable yet. I do not own the asph. Maybe it’s just that the Ultron ii isn’t that good in wide apertures as Leica lenses are. I hardly took any photo’s above f2.8/4.0 with the Ultron ii. We’ll see, I’ll make some scans from a Tmax400 film with the Ultron ii shots. Direct comparison is not possible at the moment because the Summicron has a CLA at Leica now… they are overloaded with work.

I can understand why people say that. It's not an unique lens, it has not a peculiar character either. It's just the perfect balance on M cameras, and I'm talking about size, weight, f2, sharpness, all of it. It works perfectly in my workflow.

People call it ‘boring’, which I find silly.  Users make boring pics, not lenses.

I used a Summicron 35 asph a lot! A lot, only because it’s the Black Paint edition which makes it extra enjoyable to hold and feel. However, the image translation on film is soooo boring.

I’m always amazed as to why I keep using it, at how its Black Paint lures me every time. The sexiness of the touch. It’s definitely the least sexy on print: not even a sparkle.

Lol.  Dozens of variables affect print quality, from capture to final display.  Sparkle?  Display lighting alone can have dramatic effect. Never plug and play, any more using a camera; otherwise we’d all produce similar looking stuff using the same gear. Thankfully that’s never been the case.  I have some beautiful prints, from film and digital, using the Summicron. There are many more examples of great photographers in the history of the medium than great printers.

We all know all this. Still, the summicron asph is the one with the least signature amongst the 35mm line

De gustibus non est disputandum.

Jeff and I like the Cron Asph, Cappuccino-Muffin no. But I do agree with Jeff for one thing: there are many factors involved with prints. And an alleged "least signature" lens, doesn't stop me to produce a good image/print. Having the "best" lens does not assure you a good print. Again, content is key. And most people don't appreciate the difference (in print) between a Cron asph and a 50 APO.

Just saying

I never saw a BP cron asph. Are you referring to this lens?

And yet you still wrote otherwise.

Next time you print 19,000 darkroom prints in a year, or roughly 60,000 prints within a 3 year period, you will be able to measure up to my knowledge and experience.

We could talk equal to equal. Until then, I take what everyone has to say with a big chunk of Salt.
