Tomek Posted January 29, 2022 Share #1 Posted January 29, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have had first day with the brand new M11. Small walking, few photos, and import to LRC via USB-C cable directly to MacOS (PTP protocol). Import from internal memory - no SD card installed Import dialog was not able to present pictures preview - just icons After import I see marks on each picture telling: +/- : editing done … but what editing? by what? The camera? for sure not LRC GPS location defined - fantastic: Gulf of Guinea. Of course total fake as pictures were taken in Cracow/Poland. This is obvious: there should be no GPS coordinates defined in the picture file. Any comments on the above?
Advertisement Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 Hi Tomek, Take a look here M11 - what I see after import to LRC. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
digitalfx Posted January 30, 2022 Share #2 Posted January 30, 2022 USB-C import is not supported yet, it will happen with an update. Use your card to import and you will see previews like normal. GPS is also not enabled yet...need an update to fix the O data in coordinates. RE: The edit icon, ive noticed this too. I thought I did something, glad im not alone. BTW- you can report bugs in the FOTOS app...ill report these, id encourage you to do the same.
Tomek Posted January 30, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted January 30, 2022 OK, but: why GPS coordinates are defined? They should be not instead showing fake location. Exactly like in M10 case also - why each file has "edited" mark when it was not touch by Development Module?

Just ignore it...there is no GPS data currently. This will be fixed. same with edit icon...its clearly a bug.

Yes they import with M11 Profile as default, and all images have the icon indicating they have been edited. Welcome, dear visitor! M11 for me Posted January 30, 2022 Share #9 Posted January 30, 2022 The point with the GPS has been reported in another thread. This is not some little thing that is not so nice but it has consequences: Programs that worked for years in the smart phone capturing GPS (as GeoTagR) are not usable in Lightroom anymore. Its not done just to delet the 0000 GPS tag in the DNG. Very annoying. We should have a special thread to collect all bugs that we encounter with the new camera.
Photoworks Posted January 30, 2022 Share #10 Posted January 30, 2022 GPS in still few months out, and how good will it be in the photos app? I have been using an app on my iPhone that logs the position. It is called Geotag Photos 2 you can easily record it and export the GPX data to the computer and apply it in many programs like Lightroom or PhotoMechanic. the benefit is that you can apply the GPS data anytime. You can look at you trips in the app. I am usually use more then one camera and I can apply the GPX data to all the cameras at the same time if the camera time is set correctly. Honestly, I am surprised that such a basic bug has not been removed so far. The last time I saw something like this in a Chinese 35mm film scanner for $ 10. I don't understand why define zero GPS coordinates instead of not inserting anything - as it should be. This is an idea similar to division by zero 🙂 If I wanted GPS data, I installed Visoflex. I have a lot of LrC plugins that run on GPS and the lack of GPS was an important consideration for them. Of course, you can deal with it - after importing to LrC, delete coordinates, but it is not so trivial if I import mixed files: with correct and invented by LEICA coordinates. Let's forget about smartphone applications. Not everyone uses them for geolocation. As I wrote - I use Visioflex for geolocation when I need it. LEICA should fix the bug definitively

I love taking pictures without carrying my phone around, and here it starts to look like the iPhone is a component of the M11. Is there any chance to use Visoflex 020 with M11? I have tried but without success.

In the Canon R-Series the GPS has gone as well and moved to phone.

That is why it needs the solution with the phone. I would like to remember that others do that too. In the Canon R-Series the GPS has gone as well and moved to phone. These are two different things. Version 2 has a more solid casing and much better resolution, but less functionality and for more money. For me, this is a disadvantage, not an advantage. The Leica M has never had a GPS module built into the body. Canon yes. Here, however, we are not talking about the body, but about an additional device purchased to increase functionality. In addition, in the case of CANON (if I remember) you can buy a GPS module mounted on the hotshoe. Thus, geolocation in this case does not require a phone. Smartphone based geolocation is a very old idea. In semi-automatic mode, I used this solution years ago with the CANON 20D. Of course, in the case of the LEICA, this solution has advantages - no additional device mounted on the body is needed. But a phone is needed instead. Moving on, I am already afraid that LEICA will introduce another M model without a display , viewfinder, and focusing using a rangefinder. Following the solutions of drone manufacturers, we will use the phone display and LEICA app. All in all - I still love the M10. The M11 is a bit surprising so far, not to say that it is a bit disappointing.

Kwesi Posted March 12, 2022 Share #20 Posted March 12, 2022 https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/photo-video-import-options.html Import using presets If you have certain configurations of import options that you reuse frequently, you can save them as presets to speed the import process. To create an import preset, specify import options and then chose Import Preset > Save Current Settings As New Preset at the bottom of the import window. To apply an import preset, select it from the Import Preset menu at the bottom of the import window, and click Import. To delete, update, or rename an import preset, select it in the Import Preset menu and then choose the appropriate command in the Import Preset menu. /content/dam/help/en/lightroom-classic/help/photo-video-import-options/jcr_content/main-pars/image_1572817033/import-preset.png.img.png
