How do you like the new black coating of M11

FWIW I’ve got the black chrome coated M10M which my Visoflex 2 has happily marked: Just touching it with the corner of the Visoflex 2 housing (w/o pressure) is already enough to leave (slight) marks which don’t come off anymore …

That's good to hear. My concern (which might not be valid) are occasional bumps. The brass made one held up quite well against it. Not sure if aluminium corners of black M11 would withstand it.

I have the perception that the black finish of the M11 is very very robust! Even more robust than from my M10-P! I saw way more signs of use after half / one year...

No scratches so far (received mine in April). I definitely wouldn't be worried about it!

..now that two more years have passed - are there some of you that can summarize how the new "black paint" variants are holding up in the long run?

Anybody got some images comparing the wear of one of the pre-M11 cameras with the "old" finish to the most recent (M11) kind?

I like the look of the black paint the best but the m11-d is the one I would go for from the current gen.

There's not even a highly worn copy of the M11 on eBay. Check back in five years.

I carry a black chrome M10 with a strap, wearing it across my body so this inevitably leaves bright scratch marks at both sides of M10 where the strap contacts.

 

This is just a part of the patina so no problem.

 

I sense M11 finish is much more robust but will still leave the strap marks.
