I had the same problem and was able to get the visoflex working again by powering down the camera, removing the visoflex, removing the battery from the camera, re-inserting the battery (with camera still powered down), re-attaching the visoflex and then powering up the camera.

I'm a left eye shooter and the EVF works just fine for me...

How does one hold the camera with left eye shooting where the nose would cover the hot shoe where the Visoflex would otherwise be in the way of said nose?

I use the 24mm without a separate finder and push the finder close into my L eye socket. The Visioflex snags on the bridge of my nose and stops me seeing all the sides of the frame.

Early on, my M11 had weird flaky connection with flash and Visoflex. Some cleaning-benzine on a q-tip, cleaned the contacts, and I haven't had an issue since.

Ok. 

Even with 28mm framelines? Seeing that 24mm is outside the scope of the M11's intended range of use using the OVF.

I know, but I've always used the 24mm that way. Its coverage is 'just a bit' more than the full finder (outside the 28mm frame lines) so with practice you can get it pretty much spot on (well as spot on as a RF ever is). I take most of my images that way as 24mm is my most used lens (24 Summilux).

Some positive news, I’d say.

Let me then reconsider it. My trip to Hawaii is in a month, and if the dust issue is real it will certainly show itself there.

I've had mine since early last year with no issues of dust ingress.
I live in coastal town in Namibia with plenty wind and dust from the dunes or desert planes...

Visoflex does not appear to be weatherproofed.  The back plate, made of metal, is merely superglued on.  If the camera is oriented downward so water can accumulate on the back plate, there is a risk that it may enter the body of the visoflex, which could potentially short out the entire camera I suppose as it is attached electronically via the two-way flash connector.

Great eye  relief with glasses.  I think Leica knocked it out of the park.  I am surprised it doesn't work for you.  I findings are completely positive.

I have to say after a few test runs I will definitely be buying one, I thought it was excellent and easily good enough to nail focus wide open.
