This is exactly what the new M11 allows you to do. You can create your own favorite list of uncoded lenses, and then simply select the one you want to use from that list. The M11 is the first digital M camera to offer such a feature.

This would be great - but i can`t believe. Have watched several videos and read several reviews - nobody mentioned such a feature.

EDIT: wizard was faster. Great information, fantastic usefull feature!

Did anybody try an LTM lens with an adapter on the M11?

It would be interesting to know whether you still need an adapter which covers the sensor of the 6-bit-code on the bayonet flange to be able to select an adaequate lens manually from the list.  I have a very faint hope the new system of light measurement for the M11 might get rid of this problem, but I may be wrong.

Hi,

snip

I only have a handful of lenses, and I suspect this applies to about 90% of Leica photographers. Why can't I just select the unencoded lenses I own (call it "add to favorites", if you will), and each time I attach an unencoded lens, I get presented with a prompt of the ones I have, and I pick the right one out of 3. Quick and easy.

Hi There r

yep - your dreams have been listened to! Here is my setup

Thanks both. Yes, the 24 Elmarit is there, but in order to use it I have to set the detection to "Manual", which means that I have to remember to set it back to "Auto" every time I change to one of my other two lenses, both of which are coded.

FYI, the status screen shows the selected lens mode and allows quick change.
