Roughly one in six/ten photos shows significant flare (shooting with a Summicron 50mm f2)

I've checked the lens and body internals, nothing appears wrong.

Is this normal? Problem with lens or body?

Seems to originate from the bottom right of the frame in the camera. I've seen similar effects from lens flare on other cameras (and old Canon for example). I do sometimes get flare from my Summicron 50, but not the same effect.

Could also be a light leak in the body from the lower-right side. check the negatives to see if any of it extends outside the frame. Light leaks can vary frame-to-frame depending on ambient light and length of time the film is left in the same position in the camera.

The M6 is also known to develop leaks from the curtain seals along the bottom edge of the frame. I had to have my M6 fixed for that a few decades ago. The fix involves replacing the seals with a newer material. Before it was fixed I used to keep the lens capped except when taking a shot - and that largely avoided the problem.
