Paul A Posted January 15, 2022 Share #1 Posted January 15, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Roughly one in six/ten photos shows significant flare (shooting with a Summicron 50mm f2) I've checked the lens and body internals, nothing appears wrong. Is this normal? Problem with lens or body? Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! TomB_tx Posted January 15, 2022 Share #3 Posted January 15, 2022 Seems to originate from the bottom right of the frame in the camera. I've seen similar effects from lens flare on other cameras (and old Canon for example). I do sometimes get flare from my Summicron 50, but not the same effect. Could also be a light leak in the body from the lower-right side. check the negatives to see if any of it extends outside the frame. Light leaks can vary frame-to-frame depending on ambient light and length of time the film is left in the same position in the camera. The M6 is also known to develop leaks from the curtain seals along the bottom edge of the frame. I had to have my M6 fixed for that a few decades ago. The fix involves replacing the seals with a newer material. Before it was fixed I used to keep the lens capped except when taking a shot - and that largely avoided the problem. jaapv Posted January 15, 2022 Share #6 Posted January 15, 2022 In the last shot it appears to be a reflection of the sun on the horizon and the others have a bright highlight in the frame as well.
rtai Posted January 16, 2022 Share #7 Posted January 16, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Looks more like light leak than lens flare. Do you have another lens to test?
