MediaFotografie Posted January 13, 2022 Share #1 Posted January 13, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear friends of the M System, congrats on the M11 - looks like a big step forward and a really a nice camera! 😀 Using the SL System from the first day in November 2015 I think this will be a very good update for the M-side of the world. First of all the new sensor - wish we will get it to! 60 MP and BSI, wow! And many small improvements like battery live - and the new battery mechanism, EVF, the nice main menu and so on. But you lose a hardware-implementation of GPS - to be honest, the way with Leica’s FOTOS APP does not work stable; today, there’s a new version 3.0, we will see. (For me, a few little things are still missing, like the autofocus) 😉 Have fun with M11 and take good pictures - again, 60 MP BSI, wow thomas Welcome, dear visitor! feelssadman Posted January 13, 2022 Share #2 Posted January 13, 2022 I don't want to play the devil's advocate here but let me please kindly correct that is has not yet been stated that it will indeed be a BSI sensor.
feelssadman Posted January 13, 2022 Share #3 Posted January 13, 2022 Well, scratch that. Sorry for the double post, I can't edit the old one.
littlelio Posted January 13, 2022 Share #4 Posted January 13, 2022 The M11 battery door switch reminds me of SL, also the processor. Obviously Leica is mixing the design for the new generation.

Actually, that's not correct. This is a quote from Jono's review: "The M11 has a new 60mp BSI CMOS sensor. The base ISO is 64, so that's an improvement as well. The DNG files from the M11 are a joy to work with in Lightroom"

My post was before the official release and at that point, it was correct. Anyway, it doesn't matter anymore 🙂

Maybe using M11's sensor would be "good enough" for SL3 :).

Same thought here Leica will do with the SL3 what they have done with the M11: looking at every single part and think how to improve it. So likely 80mpx+, BSI, improved battery, Maestro IV, improved algorithms for metering, for AF, etc. Better they take their time and nail it down!
